Can't find a thread so thought I'd start one nice and early for some pre chat.

Really don't think either England or Wales are going to get out of the pool rounds 🙁

Bah. It's Matthew Carley as ref. He's terrible.

Usually I'd be confident of an ABs win here, but we've just not clicked for ages so this is Italy's best chance for an upset probably ever.

I think they’re clicking now. How they’d fare against eg Wales or Ireland is another matter.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 29/09/2023 20:22

The All Blacks turned up to train at Chester College in the late 70’s.

I’ve been a fan ever since.

I'm not too worried about Wales, TBH. Ireland is a completely different story. Has been a good competition between the two teams over the past few years, but Ireland is so strong at the moment.

Only caught the last couple of scores, but the ABs seem to be going fine and doing what they generally do, as far as I can see. Nicely worked try with that neat passing move. Support runners running good lines, that's the way to crack defences. Thought the commentary a tad mealy-mouthed about them.

I really think Wales are one to watch with their upset the other day but I’m biased.

FinnRustle · 29/09/2023 21:43

Blimey O'Reilly. This isn't Italy's finest hour.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 29/09/2023 21:44

Is there any joy in this?

GrouchyKiwi · 29/09/2023 21:45

I hate routs so DH and I watched something else after the first half.

Wales was great against a very poor Australia, but they have a lot of mental baggage and I don't see them getting past that with Gatland at the helm.

FinnRustle · 29/09/2023 21:46

DH has stopped watching and is now teaching the dog how to jackal with his toy hamburger.

Hedonism · 29/09/2023 21:47

It would be kinder just to stop now, poor Italy 😔

JayAlfredPrufrock · 29/09/2023 21:53

I always feel sorry for Italy in the 6 nations. But I admire their capacity to keep going.

GrouchyKiwi · 29/09/2023 21:53

A consolation try at the end.

Not sure we should read too much into this ABs performance, but it will certainly help with the Fear in the teams they face next.

Glasgowgin · 29/09/2023 21:56

Ouch! Some lovely tries there though. Glad Italy got the consolation at the end.

duc748 · 29/09/2023 21:59

The ABs support the ball-carrier so well. They always have. There's always a guy, an option, maybe two, to be able to keep the ball moving. But of course they won't score that many points against tougher opposition.

HurricanesPoua · 30/09/2023 04:31

Anyone watching the O'Reilly Cup?

LongBoi · 30/09/2023 20:54

It's a Darcy Party!

duc748 · 30/09/2023 21:17

Impressive from the Scotland outside backs. Centres actually playing like centres!

Glasgowgin · 30/09/2023 21:26

Enjoying this one!

duc748 · 30/09/2023 21:29

Tough call on MotM: Watson? Harris? Graham?

Glasgowgin · 30/09/2023 21:41

Go Johnny!!

Glasgowgin · 30/09/2023 21:48

Darcy MOTM for me (esp after that!)

duc748 · 30/09/2023 21:59

It's great that they run good support lines, and look to put players through gaps. But of course Ireland won't offer the gaps that Romania did. Doesn't mean it's not worth trying though, even the best defences can be unpicked.

Huwipulotu · 30/09/2023 22:04

What a performance. Wondering if I need to name change to CamiHarris??

several other players also definitely made strong cases for starting next weekend; Watson, Fagerson and of course, Johnny!

LongBoi · 30/09/2023 22:10

Greig's giving Mr Tumnus vibes in those breeks.
