Any other hockey fans feeling a bit sad about this? I know it had to come as nobody can carry on forever and Maddie has been at the top of the sport for a long time but I'd hoped she'd play one more Olympics.
My DS is going to be gutted as he absolutely adores her. She has a great attitude to the kids who attend her coaching camps and inspires them as people not just players. I'm a bit of a cynic in general and I don't have many heroes, but I'm a big Maddie fan for lots of reasons.
Big kickers for Sabbie Heesh and Amy Tennant to fill but they're both excellent GKs who will hopefully get their chance to shine, and there's a good crop of youngsters coming up, inspired by Maddie no doubt, so hopefully the future is bright for the sport. It's not going to be quite the same though...😥
