At the moment it's pre-season testing and they are in Bahrain as that is where the first race happens

Is anyone watching the preseason testing at the moment?

Anyone follow the WTF1 personnel change over the past few weeks (social media channel) and that Tommy & Matt have set up P1 with just Matt & Tommy as co-owners?

I'm really looking forward to seeing what progress the other teams have been able to make since RBR had their wind tunnel time reduced due to their overspend in 2022 (that was their punishment for doing that).

Toto Wolff is on this weeks' desert island discs. Can listen on bbc sounds. It was very interesting

Sulusu · 24/08/2023 13:43

Finally a race weekend again!

Brazilianadventure · 25/08/2023 04:29

Sadly it’s likely to be another Max RB win.

Has anyone heard who the 2 or 3 teams who may have breached the cost cap are?

Stefano Domenicali is reported as saying there should be sporting penalties along with financial. If they do that after not punishing RB with sporting penalties in 2021 it really will show a RB bias.

Sulusu · 25/08/2023 17:37

Not sure @Brazilianadventure.

Daniel Riccardo might have a hand injury and is off to hospital for a check. I was wondering who the AT reserve driver is. It would be amusing if it's Nyck de Vries!

Brazilianadventure · 25/08/2023 18:00

@Sulusu I think he is one option along with Liam Lawson. I would probably give Liam a go.

Having seen how gingerly DR was holding his arm whilst getting out of the car it didn’t look good. However, remember Lance Stroll was able to drive having broken both wrists only a couple of weeks before the first race. Fingers crossed DR can race.

Brazilianadventure · 25/08/2023 18:18

Just seen on twitter DR has broken his wrist and Liam is driving. Gutted for DR, but nice to see what Liam can do. It did look like DR knew straight away and did everything to prevent further damage.

I don't know if anyone follows two F1 bloggers called Matthew Gallagher and Tom Bellingham. Well Matt interviewed Danny Ric and he went off and got injured, He also interviewed Oscar Piastri, who also ended up in the wall.

People are now asking him to interview Max! 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆

They need to do that, and send Nico around to take a selfie at the Red Bull garage.

I don't think he's there this weekend! Pity 😆😆😆

RB got some luck with qually. If there hadn’t been all the red flags etc. Q3 would have been mixed conditions and I think Lando would have had pole. So pleased for Alex, he is clearly out driving the Williams.

billysboy · 26/08/2023 18:52

Good for George , poor old Lewis

Sulusu · 27/08/2023 11:08

Six different car manufacturers in the top six is a nice change. As a lifelong Williams fan I'm delighted to see Alex in fourth.

Mixed forecast for the race, chance of rain. I think tyres will determine the podium places behind Max. McLaren seems good at lighting the tyres up fast, the opposite of the Mercs, but their race Deg is less. Alonso will bide his time.

Hamilton coming through the pack will make it more entertaining, but I think a dry race could be quite dull as Max streaks easily into the lead.

Brazilianadventure · 27/08/2023 12:39

I agree a bit of rain to mix it up and level the playing field would be good.

Teddypops · 27/08/2023 14:28

Max's dominance is just crazy! Even against Checo.

Crazy and so so boring

Teddypops · 27/08/2023 14:38

Agreed! I just try to ignore him.

Brazilianadventure · 27/08/2023 14:40

Big help from RB to Max.

Mercedes messed up, it was a no brainier to pit Lewis at the end of Lap 1.

Sulusu · 27/08/2023 15:02

Mercedes completely messed up strategy especially for George.

Alex Albon is still doing well but hasn't pitted yet.

NotMadeOfStone · 27/08/2023 15:21

Enjoying this!

Team Nando as always, hoping he can hang onto a podium spot.

burblish · 31/08/2023 13:09

Hamilton and Russell have both signed new two year contracts with Mercedes.

Brazilianadventure · 31/08/2023 15:51

@burblish No surprise really as it’s been fairly clear Lewis was going to resign and George has always been loyal to merc/Toto.

I saw 'Lewis' and 'resign' on my notification for this post and had a very small panic attack!!!

Brazilianadventure · 31/08/2023 16:27

@jennywasafriendofmrbrightside sorry forgot the hyphen. 😂

Sulusu · 31/08/2023 16:53

Good news about the Merc duo. Strongest pairing on the grid IMO.

Especially glad Lewis isn't retiring yet. Hope Merc can give him a better car next year so the season can be closer between drivers. This season overall has been one of the dullest for a while

GrouchyKiwi · 31/08/2023 17:52

Another one pleased re Lewis & George.

Agree Sulusu. At least in other years of constructor domination there was competition between team mates. Checo is nowhere this year.
