At the moment it's pre-season testing and they are in Bahrain as that is where the first race happens

Is anyone watching the preseason testing at the moment?

Anyone follow the WTF1 personnel change over the past few weeks (social media channel) and that Tommy & Matt have set up P1 with just Matt & Tommy as co-owners?

I'm really looking forward to seeing what progress the other teams have been able to make since RBR had their wind tunnel time reduced due to their overspend in 2022 (that was their punishment for doing that).

@Teddypops was just thinking the exact same thing! Bloody awful

Modda · 07/05/2023 20:21

What are the square things that Max had over his chest? I've seen a few drivers with them on today.

Ice packs

ZiggZagg · 07/05/2023 20:24

Me and DD have bonded over the cheesiness that only Americans can provide 🤣

Modda · 07/05/2023 20:25

@Teddypops thanks I thought they might be but haven't seen them before.

RicciardoPerez · 07/05/2023 20:32

Hoping for a good race! Come on Checo 😍

Sulusu · 07/05/2023 21:39

Pretty dull so far. 😐

Yes but at least there hasn't been a red flag to relinquish any gains.

Tilda77 · 07/05/2023 21:50

I was so willing Checo to hold off Max and win the race. I want him to lead the championship. There's still time for something to happen

LookItsMeAgain · 07/05/2023 22:06

Back to back snoozefests.

Tv coverage is shockingly awful

Ah well. Maybe next race we get a bit more excitement.

Brazilianadventure · 07/05/2023 22:10

Disappointed for Checo, but happy the merc’s had better race pace. Also nice for Haas to get a point.

Better racing than Baku, at least they could overtake as long as they are not in a DRS chain.

Jackie Stewart was hilarious brushing past security to get Roger Federer for Martin. To me it looked like George Russel, ever the gentleman, calmly stepped in to save the situation.

Jackie is a legend! It did look like George stepped in a bit and sort of put himself between Jackie and the bodyguard to speak to Rodger. Well done that lad.

JimnJoyce · 07/05/2023 22:26

I normally manage to find something exciting for even the dullest race but blood hell that was boring

JimnJoyce · 07/05/2023 22:26

Georges radio messages were great too

Tilda77 · 07/05/2023 22:29

I left the room at one point in hope that something exciting would happen....usually when I go out of the room it does but not today

SaveMeFromForearms · 08/05/2023 07:47

I stopped watching about 8 laps before the end, assume it finished as expected. Dullsville!

Spectre8 · 08/05/2023 11:32

I know people say well merc dominated for years but even in those years there was still excitement and another team who could challenge. It wasn't so predictable.

But now I can predict every race, red bull 1 2 or both at least on podium no matter what position they start in.

Its too boring

Spectre8 · 08/05/2023 11:35

Also even when LH was winning in the dominant yrs there was only one of two yrs where the championship winner was known so early. Most yrs I remember it was LH in the lead by half way point but all to play for still as you never know a dnf or race incidents could still turn it around. The driver championship still was fairly close.

So I think this just adds to the boredom...I mean only 3 to 4 races in not even half way through season and we know max will win the championship...why bother

Sulusu · 08/05/2023 12:06

2019/2020 were quite dull, but not as bad as this. This is more akin to the Schumacher and Ferrari dominant years. Where you would have Schumacher lapping most of the field on a regular basis, and the other Ferrari driver was under team orders every race. At least then tyre strategy and refueling pit stops could throw up exciting races occasionally.

What's happening now is mid field is far more interesting than the front, but DRS trains are rendering even that tedious, like in Baku.

Not sure what the answer is for this season. Stop shortening DRS zones might help, but unless Merc and Ferrari massively improve we are going to see lots of processional races.

Brazilianadventure · 17/05/2023 12:24

Formula 1 and FIA have just announced that Imola GP has been cancelled.

Given how bad the weather has been and is forecast to be this makes sense. I do think they left it quite late as many of the teams fans etc. may be travelling today.

Teddypops · 17/05/2023 13:08

Gutted but it's better than it just not happening on the day. Waste of everyone's time and money.

Tilda77 · 17/05/2023 13:16

Disappointing but I understand why they've taken that decision. I was looking forward to a proper race this weekend before next weekend at Monaco

Sulusu · 17/05/2023 13:31

Definitely better cancelling it now, rather than what happened at Spa a few years ago.

LookItsMeAgain · 17/05/2023 14:38

So they have cancelled the race which is a pity but completely understandable.

What is worse is that we're now down 2 races in the season. That makes RBR's lead all the more difficult to overcome.
