I'm most definitely getting nervous mainly because I don't know how my DP will cope if we lose

I've resigned myself to believing we'll lose. Not least because I do think Italy are a far better team.

However, it's perfectly feasible for us to win. I don't feel fearful - just very hopeful, and it's quite a nice change from how I usually feel with them.

I feel sick with the anticipation, I can't quite let myself believe we will do it.

I'm in Wales on holiday but have a nice big HD tv in our gorgeous cottage so we're all set. Had a 10 mile walk this morning to burn off the nervous energy.

I think they might fall to pieces if I'm honest...but think I'm being a pessimist due to 35 years of hurt! It's such a lot of pressure and expectation on them. I can't imagine them winning but at the same time I feel something in the air.

DH veers between saying they'll win 2-1 and saying Italy are so hard to break down they will find it hard to score at all! Not helping my nerves.

I'm about a decade older than you my teen tears were for Italia 90. But 96 still bloody hurt. I'm having a real wobble at the moment and I'm certain we will lose but 30 decades of supporting a club side that have slowly climbed from div 4 to premier League with lots of ups and down joy and heartache along the way has taught me to have a healthy sense of pessimism then the good times are even sweeter. Come on England.

But seriously, it was quite moving to see the crowds cheering them on. It wasn't at all like the typical angry mob of fans we often see, it was full of joy!

I am not mega hopeful , but then I thought the semi final would be a wash out too.
I've just seen some footage on sky news of the Italian side and they are ready to go too and look super fit! It's gonna be close I think.

I'm so excited for you all, at least I would be if I were to show a flicker of interest. It is paramount that I do not. Any side in any sport immediately fails if I root for them. Had Portugal in the bloody sweepstake.

I'm at work until 7, I hate watching these type of games, but no way would I miss it.

Events like this are like watching horror movies. We put ourselves through stress on purpose. It's not at all enjoyable, unless we absolutely know we've won hands down (rarely the case).

We almost feel sick, but excited at the same time. It's quite a weird behaviour when you think about it.

I don't normally watch football ( especially England matches) but this year feels different and I've got into it a bit ( this thread helps)
Plus I'd love them to win it for my late dad who died last May from covid at 98 all the ones that have supported the England team through thick and thin ( too much thin !!) and just the feel good factor of a win at a major tournament.
