Anyone going to Wimbledon 2021?

I’m v excited, as managed to get tickets in the 2nd lot of tickets which were made available in Fri.

I’ve got one of the lesser show courts.

Haven’t been for 20 years, but wondering if anyone has been recently and can comment on whether it’s worth getting the official advance car parking and anything else worth doing in advance.

Realise we’ve been lucky to eat the tickets. Was v frustrated on Thursday when despite having the special code, we didn’t manage to get anything, and was just lucky to be online when the email saying another load were released came out on Fri.

Going on the first Friday so day 5. What sort of thing might I get to see on lesser show courts at that point tournamandt?

We've got court 12 for the following monday - no seat numbers on the tickets but after DH did the share ticket thing he got an email confirming that I'd accepted the 'share' and it told him my seat number, but not his!

I envisage chaos at the gates on monday with people not having the app, only having email confirmation of tickets and also no covid status - hopefully I'll be wrong though!

We're off to Wimbledon next week! Haven't been for many years, so excited but also quietly gutted Rafa has pulled out!😭

So they're saying that you need either a negative lateral flow test or proof of 2nd Vaccine dose at least 14 days prior. I'll just miss that so will need to do a LFT.

Am I right in thinking I can just do one at home and then submit the result in the usual way on the NHS website to get the 'negative test' email and text that I can then show at the gate? It doesn't specify anywhere that I can see that it needs to be done officially by an external test place. Worried that I might get turned away but they do say Lateral Flow and not PCR test.

Anyone have more insight on that? I may have missed something.

Definitely not worth parking - traffic is hideous! Only a 10 min walk from Southfields tube.

RichardMarxisinnocent · 25/06/2021 20:59

The at home LFT and uploading the results to get a text is fine - there's lots of info about it on the Wimbledon website. I think I followed a link in an email from the AELTC to see the info, but I assume its findable from the homepage too. I am 3 months past second vaccine, my guest needs to do an LFT.

I got tickets! So excited. We just walk up from Wimbledon Station-don’t need to pay for the shuttle bus. I really like walking through Wimbledon Village. Tickets came through today.

FelicityElectricity · 29/06/2021 10:05

Seat allocations might be visible now on your tickets 😄 the QR code only appears on the day of your visit I believe 🎾

Has anyone had problems transferring tickets in the Wimbledon app? I have transferred a ticket (for this Friday) but I can only see it if I log into my own app and use the drop down menus to switch between email addresses - it’s not appearing in my mums version of the app, and therefore it is under my name and not hers?

jellybeanteaparty · 29/06/2021 13:36

Popping in to say we went yesterday. There was quite a long cue to the entrance gates but it moved at a good pace and all the app showing seemed to go well ( I think they separated off people having problems to help them elsewhere ) they have someone giving pink wristbands checking your covid status in the cue so it's just the ticket and ID to show at the gate. The QR code didn't update untill the morning required. Have fun

daisyducky · 29/06/2021 17:13

Great updates!

Can I ask what time you arrived at yesterday and how long it took to get through all the queues please?

jellybeanteaparty · 29/06/2021 17:28

Arrived at Wimbledon station around 10.30 walked up the hill, in the cue by 10.50 and 15/20 minutes in the cue. Rain on and off untill 3.30 so our picnic with Pimm's and strawberry's to pass the time!

That's great info - thank you! Sounds like the queuing went quick enough! Hope you enjoyed your day. Sounds lovely!
IsThisNameTaken · 30/06/2021 16:57

Sounds like we were unlucky with our timing - were about 30 mins behind @jellybeanteaparty arriving at the station but queued for 55mins to get in!

Bearsbearsbears40 · 02/07/2021 20:16

We’ve had our day at Wimbledon today and it was fantastic! Hardly any queue to get in at 10am, all organised, they just checked our lateral flow tests texts and the issue with my tickets in the app (not transferred to the second account properly) was fine, they could scan the qr codes so that was all they needed. Sadly we couldn’t stay to watch the Murray match on Henman Hill!

I’ve just got centre court tickets for Monday 5th.....can’t quite believe it!

Ladymurrayshair · 04/07/2021 15:54

Hello everyone. I bought quantity 2 from the drop down menu next to ‘pairs’ for centre court this Friday (9th) . I’ve been charged £414 as each was £207. Does this mean I have four tickets or two? I wasn’t trying to cheat the system and genuinely thought I was buying 2 tickets but the terminology now seems very confusing. The lack of notification in my ticketmaster account is not helping…does anyone have experience as to what they purchased and actually received? It’s be great if DH could come with me and DD!

RichardMarxisinnocent · 04/07/2021 16:03

You have two tickets, each ticket is £207.

Ladymurrayshair · 04/07/2021 16:18

@RichardMarxisinnocent

Thanks. The invoice/receipt and wording is really confusing!

Bearsbearsbears40 · 04/07/2021 18:23

Yes I found this confusing. But going back to check (when there were still tickets available), you can’t buy one “pair”, you have to have quantity 2 on the webpage so it is just two tickets.

For anyone who has been how has the crowding felt? I have tickets for tomorrow, quarter finals in centre court and they announced yesterday it would now be full capacity. Feeling nervous. I deliberately chose not to book for semis or the finals because of the full capacity (I went through the online queuing system for hours to get the tickets and there was lots of choice when I got to the top of the queue). Now quarter finals are full capacity I'm worried I'll end up isolating afterwards for 10 days!!

It was almost full capacity yesterday ( manic Monday) on centre court....but it didn’t feel crowded....even when the roof was activated .....it felt great to be among people again....the atmosphere was great....hardly saw any children at all....they seem to be the ones catching it where I live
