Have tickets for the 12th July men’s final, fierce shocked and excited but I need the mumsnet mind to help me find accommodation nearby for the 11th.

We would like to stay the Saturday night nearby in a place with car parking so after the match finishes Sunday we can drive back to the wilds of Norfolk after.
All help appreciated

Go round the M25, you will have to pay the Dart Charge for going over the Elizabeth Bridge/back through the Dartford Tunnel, then in to Wimbledon from the South. By far the easiest way.

No congestion charge.

If you can get in Raynes Park travelodge, it's opposite the station which is one stop to Wimbledon and there's a free car park too.

Thanks so much for the tips, my concerns about the travelodge are what to do when we check out the Sunday morningand have to move the car. Our plan is to drive back after the final, if we do the just park we can book a long space and hit the road straight away the tennis ends.
Just got excited again after thinking about it!

Congratulations on your ballot result!

My addition to this thread and that you do not want to have to drive on the south circular at all
It's just awful Grin

North circular is ok though.

MegCleary · 17/02/2020 21:20

Off to google north and south circular #bumpkin

They meet at Chiswick Roundabout!

AnnaMagnani · 18/02/2020 15:47

No, never do the South Circular. If you are coming from Norfolk, regardless of what your Satnav may tell you it will always be quicker to go south to the M25, and then go via the Dartford Crossing.

I do this journey twice a week from East Anglia and it's always a mistake when I'm tempted to go cross town.

Only exceptions are if the bridge is shut, and if the bridge is shut you won't have watched Wimbledon as the weather will be horrendous.

sunshinesupermum · 18/02/2020 15:55

RandomMess North Circular is absolutely horrid. Easily as bad if not worse than South but in any case it is not the route anyone wants to take crossing town. 100% agree with AnnaMagnani and M25. I live very near Wimbledon btw.

OP re the Travelodge - I doubt they will expect you to move the car when you check out before the match! Everyone else staying there will be in the same situation and won't be leaving the car park till later.

RandomMess · 18/02/2020 16:41

At least you can find and tell that you are on the North Circular 😂

I would do M25 then drive inwards to minimise.
