There's a lot riding on tomorrow! I'm finding this tour really weird now, just enjoying it for what it is, not excited for or invested in anyone in particular just watching how it all plays out. My heart was broken for the poor guy who worked and worked and was caught in the last few hundred meters though. It's a tough old sport. I'm freckled to the far end of normal brown as a berry, can't believe the first week of the school holidays has been sunny and wonderful.

LostInWales · 25/07/2014 23:05

Have you seen these, FB using peloton members? I love this mans work, he does a poster a day for the tour, this one is Bauer being caught jst before the line, I bought three for the boys room when I re did it all, we've got the Giro one from the year we were in Italy, Alpe d' huez one from, well you can probably guess Grin and one he did of Cav winning on the CE.

This man, of course he has a proper web page not just his daily Tour one on FB! Bruce Doscher.

PanwearsKoP · 25/07/2014 23:32

Useful Lost - I do like some Tour art. Will def. visit and see what there is to buy. My nephew (who got my other bike?) is a brilliant but budding artist, and on-line sales is his income.
Yes it's been a funny old Tour - quite liking the commentators on ITV/Euro trying to ratchet up the excitement for everyone. Against all odds.Smile
It's almost as if the Tour started and ended in Yorkshire. That weekend was sublime, and I'm not even sure how the following days/weeks could have equalled it no matter what.Bike

LostInWales · 25/07/2014 23:43

It's working very well as a tourism advert though, can't wait to be in our usual camping through France excitement in a few weeks now. My boys were very excited to watch today's stage as we will be just outside Bergerac for a week, their faces fell when they saw the rain! The tour in Yorkshire was an amazing thing, almost better than the hype if that was possible. Well that and it had all the good riders still competing!

AtiaoftheJulii · 26/07/2014 00:53

"Some people wear Superman pajamas. Superman wears Chuck Norris pajamas. Chuck Norris wears Jens Voigt pajamas."

Lol!
Have you seen the "God thinks he's Eddy Merckx" t-shirts?

I am stupidly going camping with a youth group tomorrow. Not so bothered about watching the TT live, but need to sort out the best way watching Sunday on my phone.

Felt sooooooo sorry for Sagan today.

AtiaoftheJulii · 26/07/2014 01:07

Hmm, maybe I made up the t-shirt because I couldn't find one on a quick Google. Although I did find an Eddy Merckx board game which I now want. There's one for only £150 on eBay!

SeaShellsMyDogTrulySmells · 26/07/2014 08:08

Losty that is an amazing picture :)

I'm going to have to climb into the broom wagon, due to going camping in foreign climes with no wifi. We will be driving the stage 4 route in 2 weeks time though so if I can't find dh a bike hire place, we will at least touch the cobbles :D

Allez allez allez!!!!

PanwearsKoP · 26/07/2014 09:10

And of course on Sunday we also have La Course, and there is a quick guide to the main riders and how things are likely to develop. 13 laps of the Tour final stage.

Gracie Elvin of OGE turned up on my twitter line last year, and I was quite taken with her talent as Aussie Womens Road Race Champion. Mostly.

Yet again work has hampered me watching the TdF, however I have now caught up. I'm hoping for a good showing by the lovely Tony Martin in the TT. I'm still enjoying watching the fight for places 2-10.

Tony will be riding this bike

Here's some on bike footage so you can imagine yourself descending with the best www.beflash.com/opqs/DescentTourmaletASO.mp4

ariadneoliver · 26/07/2014 13:03

Grin So not Jens's best day ever?

PanwearsKoP · 26/07/2014 15:17

To go with my 'hear a helicopter- look for a peloton' delusion, neighbours bought themselves a new car this week, a Skoda. Whilst I'm admiring it with them, I'm secretly looking to see if the roof rack runners are designed for a 4 bike rack.

canutesauntie · 26/07/2014 15:38

Orica Greenedge are driving Subarus, another reason to like them!

ariadneoliver · 26/07/2014 16:54

Don't worry pan, we've now had the leaflet about road closures for the Prudential Ride London so I've already been looking up the route to see where I should stand. I'm turning into a pro cyclist stalker.

LostInWales · 26/07/2014 23:10

Right, Jensies post about yesterday without my FB page all over it...

"F—k, that was just another s—t day on the Tour! That was a s—t day! Those were s—t roads! That was s—t weather! That was a s—t hard tempo! Those were s—t crosswinds! Those were s—t flats! Those were s—t crashes! That was a s—t finish and that was a s—t parking lot after the finish!

I'm so over the Tour de France! I'm over smiling and signing autographs!

About the only funny thing about the day was that moment when we passed through a town called "Condom!" I had to laugh about that, yeh! Geez, maybe I should have seen that before I had six kids, haha!

But other than that there was nothing good about this day. I'm so over the Tour de France!"

I don't think he enjoyed it much do you? Grin

DramaAlpaca · 26/07/2014 23:21

You've got to love our Jensie Grin

PanwearsKoP · 26/07/2014 23:40

Well..I suspect he enjoyed saying it was all s--t as much as saying anything else about it!
Did anyone see his interview today on Euro? "I was a wild child at school and I was given a bike to get rid of my energies." " Of course I need to work after bike riding - I have 6 children to feed".

Surely, but surely he rides into Paris at the front.Bike

DramaAlpaca · 26/07/2014 23:45

Yes, I saw that interview. Made me smile. Hope he does ride into Paris on the front, legend that he is Bike

Looks like two French riders on the podium unless something dramatic happens tomorrow. Great to see Bike

LostInWales · 26/07/2014 23:54

I can't see him not riding into Paris on the front. Whether they want him there or not Grin

DoctorTwo · 27/07/2014 06:16

I like that Leopold Konig of NetApp Endura has apparently had loads of offers to join a world tour team, I think he's well worth it. If you take Nibali out of the equation this year's Tour has been close, and would've been decided by the time trial. It would be lovely if they let Jensie do a lap of honour today, but it appears they're not doing laps this year. Hmm

I'm looking forward to La Course, they're really needs to be more coverage of women's sport.
