Can someone tell me about football strips for children?

So I know absolutely nothing about football and nor does dh. DD has taken up football and loves it. She is the only girl in the whole school doing football and keeps being told by the boys that girls aren't allowed to play football/can't play football etc etc. She is nonetheless enjoying football and doing pretty well. However she is the only one who is playing in her school tracksuit all the others have team strips (I think that is the word?). So I'm happy to get her one but have no idea where to start - where do I get one, do I need the shirt and matching shorts (and anything else)? Does it matter what number I get on the back, is there any kudos to having a particular name/team/personalisation etc Also - where do I buy this stuff? All guidance gratefully received.

Sorry this is a bit late ...........

I am guessing that your DD doesn't support a particular club team yet. So, if it were me, I would buy her the England kit (if you are English, lol). Kit could either be just the shirt, shirt and shorts or shirt, shorts and socks. I would look at what the other children had, just so that she fits in.

Shirt can have a number, a name and number or be blank. People often choose the name (just surname) and number of their favourite player. Or they may choose their own name. When DD was small, she had her first name and the number 18 (she was born on 18th of the month). Only number really to avoid is 1, because that is usually the goal keeper (who wears a different kit to his/her team mates).

You can order online from England official website, or any club's official website. If you have anything printed on it, they won't exchange if it doesn't fit. All sports shops will sell England kits, as well as kits of the big Premier League clubs and maybe some smaller teams local to you. Some sports shops do the name printing.
