Is it worth travelling from Richmond to St Pancreas for Javelin Train or stick to underground?

Not familiar with London trains - staying with family in Richmond. Thanks

We did Waterloo to Stratford on the Jubilee line today and we were pleasantly suprised. We did head to the end of each platform to get the emptier carriages but so much easier than changing tubes / going overground.

We arrived at 11:30 and left at 7pm if that helps.

To the Olympic Park? Take the train straight to Waterloo and change onto the Jubilee Line tube to Stratford.

We went from Richmond to Stratford direct on the overground. Takes around an hour but no changing trains required

Ok thanks all. A few options. Are all those options covered by the games zone 1-9 ticket?

I love the idea of a saint called Pancreas :)

Knowsabitabouteducation · 02/09/2012 09:34

Take a train to Waterloo, then the Jubilee line.

Knowsabitabouteducation · 02/09/2012 09:34

Yes, all covered by your Games travelcard.

Cool. Thanks all

I would get the overground, you'll get a seat - tubes and javelin trains going in and out of Stratford the other day were packed

manicinsomniac · 03/09/2012 12:40

stick to the underground, it's pretty quiet.

TunaPastaBake · 03/09/2012 14:54

Anyone done the underground today ? Going on Jubilee tomorrow morning to Olympic Park from Waterloo .

Thought it might be busier as 'summer hols' seem to be over .

Knowsabitabouteducation · 03/09/2012 20:31

We were on the Jubilee Line today. It was fine - we got seats.

Also on Jubilee Line today from Waterloo. No problems, quite quiet at about 11am. When you return from Stratford head right to the front of the train, then you'll get seats.

MildlyMonica · 04/09/2012 23:03

If travelling from Richmond there is an overland straight to Stratford - easy peesey!

The Overground from Richmond takes about 80 minutes. The train/underground is more like 30 minutes.

ceeveebee · 05/09/2012 07:21

Well I live in Richmond and would choose overground over train/tube anyway, especially at peak times.

The train takes between 16-30 minutes to Waterloo depending whether you get a fast train, and the fast ones are always very full. 5-10 minutes to change into jubilee line (it's quite a long walk) and then at least 20 minutes on the jubilee line from Waterloo to Stratford.

Overground takes 65 minutes.
