Delightful scalp cyst contents (warning: puss)

For about 18 months I've had a small bump in my parting about an inch from my hairline. A month ago it started to grow and when I dyed my hair I spotted a pore on the bump that was darker (with dye presumably) so gave it a squeeze. A little liquid seeped out but nothing more.

Two days later it was red and sore. 2 days after that I gave a tentative squeeze and look what glorious puss arrived! (At the time I felt a bit queasy) This was the first lot, after I wiped it away I got almost as much out of it again! Bump now completely gone!

Nobody else I know likes gross bodily excretions so I thought I'd share it here.

Oh god. How am I meant to do that?! There is zero swelling or redness in the area now, not even a tiny raised bump... Perhaps it won't come back?

You’ve said cyst, which usually has a sac, but it needn’t be a cyst. There’s a good chance it won’t come back from what you’ve said. It could just be an old blocked pore, that’s now resolved. Not that I’m an expert.

I have what I assume is the same as yours. It's called a Pilar cyst and it's actually not pus but keratin. Mine burst about 8 years ago and I managed to get everything out, including the sac. It was really quite impressive. However over the last 8 years it's filled back up again and I long for it to burst again. Im desperate to get it removed but because it came back I really don't want to have to pay for it. Luckily my hair hides it but I have to be careful if I tie my hair back.

Ooh, I have had this! Exactly the same thing happened-it burst after a couple of days of being a bit sore which was amazing!

Then it was totally flat for ages, but gradually filled up again over the next 10 years and then got infected and I had to have it removed.
