Is this a boil

Can anyone tell me if this is a boil and how to get rid of it. Don’t fancy going to gp. It’s in my pubic area started off quite small and got bigger. It’s an hard lump and really painful. I’ve tried squeezing it but nothing.

Anyone know how I can get rid of this

Image hasn’t been approved yet but by what you are describing it sounds like what I had a few weeks ago and it was the most incredibly painful thing ever 🙈
if you can go tonight you need to get to a 24 hour chemist and get magnesium paste and you need to get some on it ASAP.
then you need to use a really really hot compress to draw it out, the sooner the better - I didn’t deal with mine quick enough - life got in the way and I was in agony!!!
some very helpful MN’ters told me what to do and thankfully it burst!
I did go to urgent care at one point and the nurse rang the surgeon and because I hadn’t been on the antibiotics that I got from doctors for 7 days they wouldn’t touch it.
they said I had to go back after 7 days and they would admit me and drain it but luckily it burst on day 5 but this was after 5 days of HELL !!!
you need to watch for symptoms of infection/sepsis and if you feel unwell go to A and E as they will need to drain it - you have my sympathy ❤️

Mine was a peri anus abcess….. after lots of googling can be caused by ecoli

It started of quite small and just seems to be getting bigger. I’ve had it about 2 weeks now. I don’t have any other symptoms, but I will look out for them. Thank you

Maybe try and have a hot bath tonight or just start with the hot compress.
I didn’t want to go to the doctors either at 1st - more so embarrassed but I thought I’ll go and get antibiotics when it 1st started and it did help but it did get bigger and more painful.

For now lots of hot compresses - flannels as hot as you can manage. Repeat as much as you can.

Get the magnesium sulphate paste tomorrow.

Take whatever painkillers you find effective.

Yes. If it’s possible to put a non absorbent dressing over it do

Yes just put it on and a pair of big knickers if you can’t get a plaster on it.
has it got bigger or come to a head? Is it more painful?

If it’s an area you shave or wax, that traumatises it. The GP I saw for lumps in my armpit was stern about stopping shaving.

It does look a bit bigger and more rounded if you know what I mean. No head as yet but looking like it may appear soon. It’s not painful unless I touch it. It feels very hard

then it should come to a head - try the compression again too.
if it’s not too painful then that’s great - mine was agony and I could barely sit down.

Hot compress eg face cloth as hot as you can get it and put on top 5 min at a time once an hour or so will help draw a head and release the tension of it if it hurts by drawing pus up. Looks like a boil ingrown hair.
