Boil on bum

I think I have a boil on my bum cheek, it is hard and my god it is painful!!!!!! I can barely sit down 🙁 what can I do? Do I pop it…can it even be popped? I need relief!

Hot baths (as hot as you can stand) and then put magnesium sulphate paste on it and cover with a dressing; repeat daily until a head forms then you should either be able to burst it by gently pulling the 2 sides away from each other(rather than squeezing it which might cause it to burst under the skin) or by sticking a sterilised needle in it.

It also might just disappear. I get them in random places, sometimes they burst and sometimes they disappear. Put a plaster on it though to stop it catching on clothing, and if it bursts it is full of blood and you don’t want that soaking through your clothes or onto your mattress

Thank you @BorededI did put a plaster on before bed hoping it would just pop overnight but alas it is still there! For it to just disappear would be ideal…!

I once had a boil on the top side of leg - painful!! Eeeek!! Good luck, I hope you sort it soonest

Mine went away after bathing in a bit of Dettol. Did it twice a day for about 5 days.

Get your partner or trusted friend to squeeze that with two forefingers. It’s going to have a very satisfying pop..

I think it's just a massive spot rather than a boil. Unless a boil is technically a massive spot.

I've had a couple of these recently. I squeezed them in the shower after the heat had drawn them out a bit. Hurts like f*ck so you need to squeeze hard and fast, but then they hurt a lot less afterwards. If you don't want to squeeze you could try a pimple patch/hydrocolloid plaster but I think it's best to relieve the pressure

He problem with squeezing them when they don’t have a head is you can rupture the cell wall on the back surface and any pus will go into the space around it causing a more widespread infection. It’s better to use something like hot compresses or magnesium sulphate paste to bring it to a head then try to squeeze it out
