I just have to share this beauty. I started with vertigo a week ago. Doc said my ears were full of wax. Went to my local pharmacist as they do cleaning. He did 1 session but said there was some stuck up high & I needed a second.
Tons of olive oil & 5 days later he managed to extract this beauty.
The feeling when it came out was amazing. I actually feel like I'm on a high!
He is my new hero.

What's the size? I'm missing a pound coin for scale.

hby9628 · 21/09/2024 17:51

Oh if forgot to get a coin out
I would say raisin size. It was rock hard too.

Lovely! Do you think there's any more to come?

hby9628 · 21/09/2024 17:59

No. No more sadly. This was my second session to clear this beauty out. Nothing so significant on the first attempt unfortunately.

My vertigo is cured too thankfully.

Im sure I need to do this. Does the pharmacist sort of suck it out with something?

hby9628 · 21/09/2024 18:04

Yes like a very thin metal tube. Not painful at all but you need to use olive oil for about a week before to soften the wax.
It was a pretty satisfying experience.

I don't visit this part of the world too often but that must feel quite a relief. I love how the thread title reads as a newspaper headline. Also, I am totally jealous, I wish I could get my ears clear. Some people have those spring like tools but I can imagine they are a bit dangerous.

Newgirls · 21/09/2024 18:05

Ok how much olive oil?! I’ll try and book in this week but I guess I can get going on the oil bit

hby9628 · 21/09/2024 18:07

5 drops morning & night. Leave it in for about 15 mins.

@EscapeToTheCuntTree yeah I wouldn't want to do it myself. It could easily go wrong.

I have to go for a cleanout every 6 months or so because one of my ears has a deformity in the shape of the canal and the wax can't work its way out normally.

I used to find this very painful and I imagined that the device was a sharp point being stuck into the wax — it felt as if the point was sticking straight into my eardrum (I don't know if eardrums feel pain, but I used to recoil).

Then the person doing it explained that it's actually suction, and the pain is cause by the wax being stuck to (and tearing out) a lot of very tiny hairs that are on very sensitive skin. It doesn't hurt much less now, but at least I don't find myself thinking that I have to get my head away from the probe as if it's going to be shoved through into my brain.

Yeah a spike to the brain wouldn't be great. I didn't find it painful at all but a couple of times I went dizzy when he hit something in my ear. Thats not unusual for me though. My left ear is pretty damaged from childhood infections.
