Please help identify what this is!

I'm an avid sporner but have what I think may not give me any pleasure, but what I'm hoping someone here can identify.

I noticed this purple bump on the top of my thigh this morning, about an inch from my knicker-line. It seems soft and not filled with anything, and doesn't have a head (one small pore seems to have dried but I think unrelated). It isn't painful but once I touch it I'm then aware of it for a little while after. I do notice that it seems to be in the line of a vein so possibly related? No injuries to the area that I can recall.

I'm currently in a hot bath and can see it has a ring of red around it. The bump itself is less than a cm in diameter.

Any advice greatly appreciated. I'm in Ireland and it's €70 to see a GP so I'd rather avoid that if it's easily solved at home.

My vote would be an ingrowing hair.

I thought ingrowing hair too. Could you get advice from a pharmacist in the first instance, and then see the GP if it doesn't clear up?

I will just add that I once had one that got infected and it turned into a huge, glorious pus-filled sac ... 😍

Now I'm getting excited that I might have one of those long drawn-out threads depicting the transition from angry red bump to glorious sporn 😆

I've tried squeezing but there's no actual form to it, the skin is quite loose. Also don't want to squeeze a vein out, which I realise demonstrates my pathetic understanding of biology, yet is still making me hesitant to have a dig around!

Like any good sporner I have some mag sulphate - I'll give that a go this evening and see what transpires. If I do have Rapunzel brewing in there I'll be sure to film her release
