Have noticed this weird goo patch behind DS 18mo ear. He's not bothered when I touch it.

The patch of skin looks shiny and wet. Doesn't smell. Any ideas what it could be anyone?

He's just got over HFM but didn't notice any sores behind his ears. Any sores he had have all crusted over now anyway.

My dn had this often (especially after being ill). It was put down to dribbling in sleep and it running and collecting behind ears. Sil was told to wash and dry area thoroughly after each nap, make sure hair not in way. Was given some cream by the pharmacist (at one point it was a steroid cream diluted).

My 14 year old still gets this behind her ears at times. Wiping with a flannel and sudocrem helps

It's possibly weeping eczema, but could also be thrush, good to get it checked at the GP

My wee one (now 3yo) gets similar. Need to be careful as it's a spot that gets easily infected due to sweat and dirt gathering. Keep clean and dry where possible, apply some antibacterial ointment or cream regularly and if it doesn't clear up in a few days ask the pharmacy.
