Skin tag on face? Pic included!

Just after a bit of advice as to what to call this and how to get rid of it.

It's a bit like a pimple just under my nose. I think I've had it several years, I can't really remember when it first appeared. It's painless, doesn't change in size or appearance. It's flesh coloured and appears to be just a raised bump on my skin.

I'm starting to think about getting it removed now but have no idea how to go about that or what even to refer to it as when speaking to someone! Is it just a skin tag? Would I need to see my GP first or can I go straight to a dermatologist to get it removed?

Thanks - any advice appreciated!

My wife had a couple of skin tags on her neck. Her GP asked the practice nurse to treat them with some sort of cold spray.

Try salicylic acid

It's hard to say exactly but I am not convinced it is a skin tag. It might be worth asking a beauty therapist to take a look.
I see someone has suggested salicylic acid. I think that is definitely worth a try.
Also not sure the GP would remove one from someone's face if it is a skin tag.

I don’t think that’s a skin tag-it looks more like a flesh coloured mole. Some people get lots of them. I expect skin/private clinics would remove them.

Your GP won't do anything - this is a self-funded private job. I'd probably find a cosmetic dermatologist

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 10/04/2024 23:17

I'd get that looked at. A relative of mine had a 'white mole' for months. It was skin cancer. Don't want to alarm you but we're so often told to look out for brown moles but never white! Please get it checked.

hairymuffet · 26/05/2024 09:24

Yip. Gp. Friend had similar and it was a malignant mole

MrHowardsPears · 26/05/2024 09:29

@PurplePetalPip google flesh coloured basal cell carcinoma as I had a flesh coloured "mole" ie no pigment to make it brown that slowly grew over about 10 years. I was told it was a mole but it was actually BCC. I had it removed by a private cosmetic surgery clinic because it was on my face I felt a bit precious about it.

If you get it checked it out first then something like cryotherapy might remove it.
