Spoken to gp today who's told me to treat it like any ingrown toenail but I'm not sure how that will help in this case..
So my big toenail hasn't grown for 5/6 months now. It almost looks like the top of my toe has gotten bigger?! It doesn't feel swollen, but maybe that's why it seems bigger. But for ages now at the bottom of the toe under the skin hurts (especially if pressure put on it), so it seems to me that it's ingrowing, but downwards instead of into the side of the toe. I'm pretty sure this has happened because I've been constantly wearing a sock on that foot because of bad athletes foot that I've been trying not to spread around the household. And for a while I was always wearing these socklet things that are fairly tight, so were putting pressure on the toe/nail (I'm no longer using these, just normal cotton socks).
Any experience of this anyone?? Gp said to do the cotton wool stuff (wedging it under the nail to bring it away from the skin), but theres not really any room. And if it's going downwards how will that help? Or maybe I just don't understand at all how it works and the drs absolutely right! Any suggestions much appreciated, thanks 😊
