An abscess

Bad enough the GP has prescribed antibiotics from a photo of it.

I was really hoping to drain it myself. But there is like a hole I can feel through the centre of what feels like a big solid lump still! It doesn't hurt now but it's still clearly an abscess. Only started antibiotics today

Any experiences of similar ones, advice on healing? Have slapped some mag sulphate on tonight but not hopeful really...did give it a squeeze and get a lot of blood and a bit of gunk out last Friday.

Not to worry you but mine got bigger and infected and I ended up in A&E...

Just avoid anymore prodding, cos you can send the pus/infection inwards and end up with a much more out of control infection. It’s hard to resist I know, but sepsis isn’t fun.

No, I figure not prodding it poking unless it comes to a nice head. I feel like I'm going to have a big hole at this rate from how big the lump is..!

I would also hope I should avoid sepsis given the antibiotics I'm on now. Which have already upset my stomach terribly 🫠

Hi , I know this post is from last year but I have this exact issue just now and started antibiotics today , looks similar to yours. Did your antibiotics clear it up x

Compress of bread soaked in milk as hot as you can stand. Sounds mental but it works amazingly.
