Verruca or something else?

On six-year-old's heel after two days at a holiday park and pool 🤮

I assumed verruca because of the pool, but not so sure.

Things to note:

This was last night and the redness/tracking has gone (and I drew around it after these pics)

Nothing to squeeze; it's not pus.

No splinter that I can dig around for.

It's agony, apparently!

Any ideas?

A verruca wouldn't appear as fast as that. Could she have trod on something?

dementedpixie · 17/08/2023 20:59

Unless it was there already and got aggravated being barefoot

TenThousandSpoons · 17/08/2023 21:05

Doesn’t look like a verruca to me.

rwalker · 17/08/2023 21:42

does look like something warty probably already there and a couple of day barefoot and in water gas brought it out

kissthegirlshesnotbehindthedoor · 17/08/2023 21:45

No I don't think a verruca either.

🤷🏼‍♀️

And it appeared only two days after getting here. This is the evening of it appearing after I went at it with my tweezers thinking it was a splinter. Nothing. Was absolutely agony/screaming as I did it! Poor thing!

Doesn't itch. Can't see anything in it. Weird. Off to another pharmacy to speak in broken French!

Will keep an open mind for verruca/wart. Very odd.

Anyone else seen this before?

How is it now? I would be more worried about a splinter of glass or similar rather than a verruca even though digging around hasn’t elicited anything. I’d go with Compeed blister plasters to start with as they’re brilliant at drawing tiny splinters of glass or similar out. The other option is good old magnesium sulphate paste and dressings - but they won’t offer much cushioning or protection round the pool during the day like a blister plaster would.
