I've got a tick!

Just back from a holiday in Scotland. In the shower this morning and noticed I've got a tick on my inner thigh! No idea how long it's been there - guessing since Friday at earliest.

I'm going to see if our local pharmacy has a tick removal tool, I really don't fancy trying to remove it with tweezers and messing it up.

Have attached pic - might be a bit blurry, it's hard to get my phone to focus. Bleurgh.

Yes, get that removed professionally op. Don't take any risks. You should be seen fairly quickly given the issue. All the best... 🙏🏻

Update: I no longer have a tick!

Watched a YouTube video on how to remove (have not done this since the 80s!) and it was a success. Slathered on some Sudocreme after.

Little blighters. Will need to check the teenagers when they finally surface from their beds today. That'll go down well 😆

I pick them off our cats fairly regularly and, as a true psychopath would, melt candlewax over them to kill them. If they can survive that, they're hardened into wax coffins so.......

I absolutely detest ticks.

Had one recently on a DofE trip supervising the kids, was mighty naffed off. One of my 6th formers came over with tweezers for me. Was fine but found myself being more aware of them since.

For anyone who wants a decent tick tool in their armoury...get thee to a vet, buy a tick twister, then get thee to an offie and buy some vodka.

Douse tick in vodka, use tick twister, drink remaining vodka after sanitising wound.

Keep an eye out for Lyme disease symptoms, especially if you're not sure how long you've had the tick. I had antibiotics without symptoms as I live in a high risk area and GP wanted to be careful.

I like the way you think!

I like the sound of this 😄

I actually found another one on my ankle that evening - it was absolutely tiny so no wonder I'd missed it, and the fine pointed tweezers worked on it. I was absolutely REPULSED though.

Oh and the teenagers were equally repulsed and horrified when I told them they needed to get naked in front of the bathroom mirror and check themselves. They both did it though 😄

😃

I've battled eleventy million (approx) on the dogs, only one on me, but am delighted to report this method works on every species I've tried it on.

Oblomov23 · 12/08/2023 23:43

I had one last month after caravanning. Was shocked. Dh pulled it out with tweezers.

Beenhereforever1978 · 12/08/2023 23:48

If anyone is thinking 'just yank them out' please do not do that.

You might be lucky and get the whole bastard thing, likelihood is you’ll leave the mouth parts in your body, which can lead to nasty infections.

You don't have to do my method, but please don't just yoink the bastard things out.
