Came across it last night while I was lying in bed. It felt like a boil but didn't look cos it was dark. It's on my stomach.

Woke up this morning to some stickiness where it has burst/leaked through the night. Mad I didn't get to squeeze it 😂

Anyone know what it is?

Also the skin around it is really red. No heat or discomfort.

Might it be an ingrowing hair? Sorry can't tell from the photos. Maybe a squeeze and clean it up?

msssm · 08/03/2023 10:38

Sorry hard to get a non blurry photo!
Can tiny bum fluff type hairs cause an ingrown like that? There's never been any visible hair on that part of
my stomach.

Ingrown hair

msssm · 08/03/2023 13:47

Clearer pic. I'm really sure no hair grows there though?

It looks a bit infected? Can you draw a line round the redness and keep an eye - if it gets bigger, seek a medical opinion?

It's really red around it isn't it? But it's not hot or sore. I'll keep an eye on it.

Just want to know what it is really.

I had a bite that looked like that, the Pharmacist suggested a spider bite (which I refuse to believe!) Grin It went down after about a week.

Evenstar · 08/03/2023 19:13

Is it on a stretch mark? I get these sometimes, you can’t squeeze them they are almost like a pus filled blister and they burst eventually.

DoesItMakeYouFeelBetter · 08/03/2023 19:26

How big is it?

I'm going to pretend I never read this message 🙉🫣

I don't think it's on a stretch mark, that's just the mark of my trousers.

It's about 2-3cm across

Sorry, I see somebody has beat me to it, but I was going to say spider bite, too.
I’d put some antiseptic on it and loosely cover it overnight.

Spider bites can be nasty. My husband had one on his foot, he needed antibiotics in the end, nasty little buggers.

WashAsDelicates · 08/03/2023 21:46

IME spider bites start as a stinging red spot and grow swiftly into an implausible blister. The blister bursts, leaving a crater with a central 'pillar'. The crater oozes fluid and sloughs tissue until it heals.

Does this sound like what is happening to you?

I'm no expert, but I've had 3 spider bites. They all followed the same trajectory. The worst one I had was on my hand. Most of my hand swelled a little, but by the time I got to see a GP the swelling has gone and he did not think I needed antibiotics. The British GP, by the way, had no idea what had caused the oozing sore. It was a South African ex-nurse who identified it.

daffodilandtulip · 08/03/2023 21:49

My first thought was spider bite too

msssm · 08/03/2023 21:54

Tried to google spider bites but there were pics of spiders! That's not what I wanted to see!

So it seems the consensus is spider bite. I didn't get to see it before it burst but I do think it came up quickly because I didn't feel it before last night. It has been oozing a bit today. Still red around but not sore.
