What to do about verruca 'root' still attached!

Name changed for this as my first sporner corner!

I've had this little verruca for 7 years now and I'm desperate to get rid of the thing. It's not got any bigger I think due to weekly trims but now suddenly I was able to pull at it and most of it has come away from the sides, leaving a little hole! When I pull it taut I can see a little pale rubbery stalk, the bottom of it still firmly fixed in the ball of my foot.

I feel like this could be it! What now??

No chemicals as I'm breastfeeding.

Do I grit my teeth and yank? Needle? Nail scissors? It bleeds if I mess with it.

Yank it out and mop up the blood 🤣

IroningThrone · 18/09/2022 19:51

It needs a load of salon or something on it now!

verucacacaca · 18/09/2022 20:32

Sorry @Soubriquet I've got my sporn etiquette wrong! I thought it was no holds barred on here Blush

I’m obviously in the minority here as everyone else seems to like it. So….carry on Grin

My mum hacked mine out with nail clippers 🤣

I dug mine out with tweezers…

SucculentSunshine · 21/09/2022 22:00

Bloody hell it looked like it had its own umbilical cord!
it should be enough of a wound to heal itself now.

LimboLass · 21/09/2022 22:01

That must have hurt like a bastard when it came off.

TiddyTidTwo · 21/09/2022 22:03

🦶you bloody legend!

ipswichwitch · 21/09/2022 22:09

I decided to dig one out with a scalpel blade once - I got fed up when filing and tape didn’t seem to be working. There was a lot of blood, no idea why I was surprised at that, but I had to shout for exP to get paper towels or something so I didn’t bleed all over the place. When he came into the bathroom and saw all the blood, he promptly fainted, and cracked his head on the door frame. When he came round, he said it looked like an abattoir!

Alopeciabop · 21/09/2022 22:21

Next time Duct tape. Just keep duct tape on and don’t stop til it’s gone. Keep replacing after showers but even better if avoid getting foot wet. Just if anyone needs this advice

Mabelstearooms · 21/09/2022 23:55

I had one a bit bigger than that about 10 years ago. I dug it all out with a scalpel and tweezers then went to work at a pub so got lots of dirty beer dregs in it. Couldn't put my foot down properly for a few days . Happy to tell you it completely healed in a month, hole disappeared and no lasting signs it was ever there!

GeorgiaGK · 22/09/2022 00:00

When I was a child I had a few that wouldn't go 😫 I had to see a specialist! Basically I was told to keep filing them down with one of those foot graters a few times a week and put surgical spirit on each time. It worked! Just for future reference - although looks like you've sorted this one 🤣

FlibbertyGiblets · 22/09/2022 00:04

The photos are beautiful, niiiiiice. Leg rubs. Thank you.

Thefailinghousewife · 22/09/2022 00:35

Is it wrong I sort of wish I had a verucca too after seeing this? I miss the days of picking them out with a compass and some tweezers!

Oblomov22 · 22/09/2022 03:39

I would still put another dose of verruca treatment on that. Would sting to buggery, but at least you'd then know you'd got it properly.

Antarcticant · 22/09/2022 08:57

I don't know what you can and can't take when breastfeeding, but natural antivirals (such as garlic tablets with allicilin) might help stop it coming back.

I dug all mine out with a darning needle when I was a teenager and seem to have rendered myself immune now

when I see a thread like this that makes me sad Sad

I remembered a nurse cutting one out many years ago and the shock of the pain, but it went for good.

Years after that I thought surely they wouldn't do that without an anaesthetic but it seems they - and we - did! All for the best.
