You all have my sympathy. I had too many ear infections when I was 5 & they went to put grommets in when they took out my tonsils, there was no glue in there just lots of scarring & an already perforated eardrum!
I’ll always remember being around 4 & laying my head on my Mum’s lap when she was in bed to have ear drops put in. And being smacked for lying because I said I didn’t like the taste of them.
My left eardrum had a large perforation & the medicine was going down through my Eustachian tube onto my tongue 🙁
I’m now as deaf as a door post in my left ear, with lots of scarring so it doesn’t vibrate properly & a late in life discovered deformed Eustachian tube! And the tinnitus drives me insane hatstand lol! And I always get ear infections after a respiratory infection. Gah!
Hoping your ear gets better soon!
(The last Boxing Day before the pandemic, we all went to Mum’s for her usual cold meats & handmade chips. My sister & her boyfriend were there, with her sitting between his legs on the floor. They were messing around - probably fuelled by ample sherry - and he clapped his hands over her ears.
We all heard an audible pop.
”I’ve gone deaf, oh god, I’ve gone deaf!” She squealed.
One trip to minor injuries to see the on call GP that night - who commented her right eardrum was now ‘flapping in the breeze’ - & a course of antibiotics later, & the rest of the week’s festivities continued).
