Gammy toe

On Monday I bit tore off a hangnail and my toe has now developed a massive growth.
Had a good bit of puss out of it yesterday but today it's been sore and not releasing anything.

Practical advice welcome otherwise I'm going to buy some mag sulphate tomorrow.

If it swells up and gets really sore - or gets hot - go to drop in or A and E, they can need antibiotics or proper draining If they become an abscess..

Its hypergranulation tissue where a bit of nail is in the skin and irritating the skin to overgrow. If it gets any bigger despite salt and mag sulph you will need to cut a bit of nail away out of the hypergranulation tissue or get a podiatrist to do it. We don't do that on the nhs unless the nail needs to be removed which is a bit drastic.

Soak your foot on hot salty water twice a day. Big blob of Savlon over night and cover it. If it gets worse seek help.

Thank you. It hasn't got worse but it's not really better either - I've had it uncovered since about 11pm Thursday, 3 lots of mag sulphate yesterday, now sitting with a hot salt compress on it.

Will call the local podiatrist when they open.
