I’m quite proud that I’ve lived with these for a while!

The big one is the size of an olive 😳 there were 12 of the smaller ones in there too!

bye bye gallbladder 😁

That’s horrible. Why is it all bobbly????

coldandverytired · 05/05/2022 20:40

they usually are, it’s an impressive size- even the surgeon got excited about my ability to grow painful additions to my body 🥴🙈

Did you have to ask to keep it?

BunsyGirl · 05/05/2022 20:46

I had 28 removed. Still have them but they are disentegrating in their jar at the bottom of a drawer!

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 05/05/2022 20:47

Impressive!!!

CornedBeef451 · 05/05/2022 20:48

Good grief! Well done!

GettingStuffed · 05/05/2022 20:56

I wasn't allowed to sew mine.

coldandverytired · 05/05/2022 21:01

I didn’t ask for them, but the surgeon presented it most triumphantly as such a beast 😂 and kept a normal sized one for comparison.

I got one of those too! When I was coming round from the anaesthetic I heard someone behind me saying 'have you seen the size of this!!' So my first words on waking up were 'size of what?' And then I was presented my trophy

Stylishkidintheriot · 05/05/2022 21:28

I didn’t get to see mine. The surgeon told me they were tiny, there weren’t many of them, and they were nothing to be impressed with lol

PlantingTrees · 05/05/2022 21:29

That is so rank. I don’t even really know what they are. What are they made of?

thenightsky · 05/05/2022 21:31

Amazing! Bloody well done OP, and all you wonderful stone growers!

As an aside, I asked the nurses and surgeon if they could keep my arthritic hip so I could see it after the replacement op. They just smiled and said... noooo dear.

user476t58 · 05/05/2022 21:33

I asked for my womb to be photographed before they chucked it in the bin...Grin To her credit the surgeon did!

tkwal · 05/05/2022 21:34

PlantingTrees
They are made of fat, cholesterol and the green pigment is bile

PlantingTrees · 05/05/2022 21:34

Wow, I didn’t know that at all.

WhoWants2Know · 05/05/2022 21:37

That's awesome! I'm waiting for mine to be evicted.

I want to see my gallstones, but what if they are all just dinky little things? I might get all ashamed that mine aren't as impressive as the OP's 😁

ExplodingCarrots · 05/05/2022 21:39

My mum was presented with hers too and they looked like spiky malteasers . Disgusting but impressive .
My nan had hers out, then my mum so I'm waiting for my turn now Smile

WingingItSince1973 · 05/05/2022 21:40

Goodness me thats fascinating yet gross at same time. Hope you recover well x

Caminante · 05/05/2022 22:13

Ooh OP thank you, wasn't sure what to expect but that's fascinating!

coldandverytired · 06/05/2022 02:54

@ExplodingCarrots yes, mine is genetic, both of my parents had theirs out in their mid 40’s, I’m late 30’s and started having attacks a few years back- my mum instantly knew what was up! Good luck, honestly as soon as you have an attack book yourself
in to have it whipped out!

Hats off OP, that's pretty impressive

NaiceHamAndHugs · 06/05/2022 08:41

It looks like a truffle. 😁

Ooh how fascinating. I have passed two gallstones this year. The last one getting stuck for a little while causing me to be jaundiced. I'm seeing a consultant next week about getting my gallbladder out. DH joked that he wanted to keep them. I hope the surgeon lets me have mine.

Haveatakeaway · 06/05/2022 21:30

Aww lucky! I had mine out when I was 23! I asked to see them but they got rid of them! It was supposed to be straightforward keyhole as well but I was in for 4 hours because there were so many stones and silt! they had to push most of them down in the end and wait for me to pass them. Thank God it's gone though, the pain! And I was pregnant at the time and lost 35 pounds by full term because I just couldn't eat anything, even skimmed milk, I went yellow.
I remember a few days before I had it taken out literally crawling on the floor in agony and asking for an ambulance, my dh took me to a&e (it was new years eve) and they gave me tramadol but it didn't touch the sides. I was so scared to eat anything. Went to gp next day they were open for blood tests and the same day got admitted to hospital.
when I was pregnant I was on 30/500 cocodamol the whole way through and I remember just rocking with a hot water bottle and watching jackass at 2 in the morning trying to see other people in pain!
