Hi, I've always lurked but today I present to you my sebaceous cysts. I've had them for around 3 years and had to go private to have them removed. The surgeon was a total sporner and let me take this photo, enjoy 😉

Oooh I hope it feels a lot better with them out.

Nice to see the big round capsule. I’ve had the pleasure (?!) of touching one of those. It was weirdly stiff/hard and made a tap when knocked against the trolley. Grin

They never had any feeling in them, maybe rubbery. They were on my back, fingers crossed for a nice clean wound!

Nice!

I had three removed from my scalp and I couldn't believe the size of them when they came out. Because there's so little room between the skin and the skull, they seem quite flat in situ, but they were huge!!

TooMinty · 21/02/2022 16:13

Oh I have one on my scalp that I'd like removing. How did you go about going private to get it done? I think I get cover through work.

SeekingBalance · 21/02/2022 17:17

I contacted my private hospital, you can get them done by dermatologists but I chose to have a surgeon do mine. Its not cheap, but I'm only in my 30s and it was making me feel self conscious in the summer months.

Thanks! Do you mind me asking how much it cost? (No worries if you don't want to say)

SeekingBalance · 22/02/2022 07:52

Of course, brace yourself. They charge by the hour here and including the consultation (about a 5 min affair) roughly £650. But, it really was making me so self conscious. Today, its sore but I think it's just very tight where its healing.

Wow! Although I do think it is impacting my sleep so probably worth it.

hellololabells2019 · 09/03/2022 23:00

SeekingBalance did the surgeon comment on the chance of it coming back

FlorhamPark · 12/03/2022 22:44

I had two done on my scalp on the NHS this week, I used choose and book to go to the local private hospital.

DrDreReturns · 12/06/2022 15:35

I've got a mahoosive one on my scalp. I've been referred for an op but I'm still waiting to hear from them (I was referred back in March) I was quoted £800 to get it removed privately! I can't wait to get it removed.

SeekingBalance · 12/06/2022 16:35

Sorry I didn't see this! He removed both sacks and said they wouldn't return, so fingers crossed!

@SeekingBalance thank you. Had it left a big scar?

SeekingBalance · 14/06/2022 14:17

No not really, about 2cm in length. I would of rathered the scar than the cyst.
