What could it be?

DH is refusing to let me take any pictures or do anything to it, the bastard, but he has a lump on his inner thigh.

its large, red and bruised looking. No head on it. No signs of a sting or puncture. There's definitely a lump but a soft lump if that makes sense. The 'top' of the lump feels very soft too, not like a spot would.

I don't think its a spot or an ingrown hair. I don't think its a cyst either. It might be an abscess judging from googling

I'm telling DH to put magnesium sulphate on it but no change yet. No head on it, no signs of swelling going down.

DH doesn't feel sick or anything, just uncomfortable. He wont see the doctor either.

Suggestions welcome

DH had one years ago and it left a crater in His thigh!

Tell him you suspect a spider has laid eggs in there and you need pics for The Experts On Mn to decipher them...

He's not let me anywhere near him for the last week and that's very unusual for him but it is going down and some blood came out but nothing else. he reckons its 'bruised blood'.

He is continuing to put magnesium sulphate on it though.

DS1 has exactly the same but he's in agony, on antibiotics and has a cream to apply. Tell your DH that if it spreads his balls could get infected, get that'll get him to the doctor 😃
