Do you want to see my massive tonsil stone

I want to start by saying I have excellent oral hygiene. Really I do.
Nobody has ever said I've got bad breath.

However I seem to have a little pouch on my right tonsil and I get a lot of stones.
I usually have a poke around once a week and get a bit out but today I had a really good poke and got this disgusting beauty.

You are welcome Wink

My 13yo keeps getting these. She wretches constantly and then has to pull them out which makes her tonsil bleed. I did think about taking her to a doctor; but google suggests that these are no big deal Hmm. She too has good dental hygiene so not sure whats causing them.

I had a huge one earlier but didn't take a pic.

Oral hygiene has nothing to do with them apparently - it's caused by pockets in your tonsils that catch food particles and such.

Yes I have a tonsil pocket. It's weird because I haven't had any for years and now I seem to get them a lot.
I have really bad GERD so I don't know if that contributes.

I've had issues with these for year but they've been at bay for a while until this weekend when I ended up with an inch long one!
It's been agony!
It popped this morning which unfortunately happened while I was driving
Think I'll avoid food today
Was going to ring the doctor but it feels so much better now

I did quite a bit of Googling and I was surprised how many mentions of 'bad oral hygiene'I found
No amount of brushing and flossing would stop it . Maybe if I gargled after EVERYTHING I eat .
I had tonsillitis a million times as a kid so I've got very scarred and pitted tonsils . Wish they'd removed them

Actually I kept on getting these at that age too!

It's not happened for years now, maybe it's something to do with the hormones 😂

Oh DD used to get these foul things every day, even bigger than that! She knows how much I hate mouths, so she used to stick them on her finger then hold them right up to my face. Ergh.

She ended up deciding to get her tonsils removed. We went to the ENT who agreed it's a very valid reason for removal. Had them out a year ago and hasn't looked back. No more tonsil stones!
