Public service announcement: Cow hoof maintenance

Just checking if we're all aware of the YouTube videos of cow hoof maintenance by The Hoof GP et al? This randomly popped up in my YouTube feed and dear god do I appreciate a good white line abscess. I'm ashamed to confess I'm a vegan which adds a frisson of wrongness to the whole proceeding. Am I alone?

Oh yes, I'm a huge fan. Particularly when he removes stones which are wedged in there - it must be such a relief for them. He's very engaging. I do wonder how on earth he got into that line of business.

I've also watched a few videos that suddenly popped up on my feed of tartar removal from teeth. They seem to be mostly (I think) chinese videos. They're not quite as satisfying because although the end result is tartar free teeth, the teeth are often in terrible condition generally 🤷🏻‍♀️

(That's tartar removal from human teeth BTW, not cows)

Yes! Seems so instantly satisfying/relieving for the cows, and always amazes me how little they seem to feel it.

I’m with you here. Quite addictive and so satisfying to watch. The tension! I did have a phase of watching similar horse versions but then some of them were completely incompetent and were probably doing more harm than good with the poor neglected ponies 😱

I watched that in silent while also watching downton abbey, quite a contrast. I always loved the descriptions in the James Herriot books of reaching the pus in a hoof

FFS I watched the hoof video last night and suddenly felt very, very ill like all the blood had drained out of my body. Got very close to throwing up and had to go and lie down and try and divert my mind.

Truly, truly horrific and revolting. For context, my upbringing was Scottish, very rural and we had various wild animals and I've seen most things but dear god no not those hooves 🤢

I had a horse once with a massive hoof abscess.
We used a bran poultice and one day it just “went” it was glorious and the poor horse breathed an audible sigh of relief

I loved the episode when they were being assessed so they all turned up at a farm together with their amazing contraptions/rigs. So many Hoof GPS in one place, who knew it was such a thing. I bet the others were all spitting feathers they hadn’t thought of streaming their work on YouTube . I liked the way they were all comparing their cow gripping and moving boys toys.
