Ooh! Bet you're glad to have that out! I only had "sludge" but I'm so much happier since I had my gallbladder out.

I didn't even know I had gallstones!

I was having another op and this was discovered so I had it taken out.

For years I thought the pain was IBS or the beginning of chrones or something. Not once did the Dr's mention gallstones Hmm

Me bloody neither. The gp was clueless and fobbed me off, when I went to him with what I know now are absolutely classic gallstones symptoms.

It was only after I questioned my symptoms on a forum like this everyone said it was probably gallstones!

VsgKitt · 10/08/2021 14:21

Ridiculous isn't it? Especially with how common they are.

Wow that’s impressive!

What other op were you having, being nosey? I’m being investigated for gallstones but no one really knows what’s going on at the moment.

Gingerkittykat · 10/08/2021 14:33

Wow, my gallstones were the size of peppercorns and I had been in agony for months waiting to get my gallbladder out.

I wasn't allowed to see mine , apparently I had so many my gallbladder had stopped working. I also have a kidney stone over a centimetre in diameter.

Beautiful. I didn't get to see mine, but they can all fuck off anyway. Congratulations on both ops.

Geamhradh · 10/08/2021 17:11

Oooh interesting. I've got sludge which is possibly hiding a couple of stones inside its gloop. 😝

BeginningBridge · 10/08/2021 18:12

I had my gall bladder removed about 6 years ago and had 3 very large gallstones ( the largest was about the same size as an avocado stone).

Two years ago the high calcium levels I had in blood tests for many years was finally followed up - I had something called hyperparathyroidism ( effectively an overactive parathyroid).

The excess calcium in my system was (very probably) responsible for the enlarged gallstones and while I feel much better now, I have a number of legacy issues including severe kidney damage.

So, you may want to google the symptoms of hyperparathyroidism just in case they could apply to you. I wish mine had been identified earlier!

I'm so jealous they let you keep it, I had three dermoid cysts removed (one of which had a whole tooth in) and they wouldn't let me keep anything!

Nat6999 · 28/08/2021 01:28

Exh collapsed in agony last Sunday, was admitted as something was attacking his liver, after 3 days of scans & tests he had an ERCP & 7 gallstones removed from his bile duct.

Spidey66 · 08/09/2021 13:23

Thats nothing,

I had mine out a month ago, I didnt keep them but the surgeon lot count at 200

Redsquirrel5 · 08/09/2021 23:12

When I was pregnant with DD they discovered I had a gall stone the size of a duck egg. He went and got another someone else which really worried me that they found something more serious then he explained he wanted the other doctor to see as it was so large. I didn’t get it operated on until DD was 6 months old and I was still bf but only supposed to be in overnight. When they opened me up I had septicaemia and ended up in theatre for 5 hrs and in hospital for 6 days. DH had to keep bringing DD in so I could feed her because she wouldn’t always take a bottle. I was lucky they operated when they did as the surgeon told me another two days and I would have been dead. A sobering thought as I have four kids. I was 35.

Op take care as you can feel a bit grotty afterwards but then you will feel so much better and can have a curry or spicy food.

Spidey66 · 09/09/2021 07:20

@Redsquirrel5
You win!Wink
Seriously sounds scary, glad it's resolved xx

Redsquirrel5 · 10/09/2021 06:01

Ha, ha I think we all win by getting them out.

200is an awful lot. I had some more but they didn’t count them. The surgeon had to laser it to shatter the large one. It was when key hole surgery had first come in. The other doctor said he should have just opened me up instead of carrying on with the keyhole. They flushed me out and I was on antibiotics for a while.

Hope you are feeling better OP but take it easy for a while.💐

That’s because the doctors wanted to do their own show and tell (only guessing, it sounds cool).
