Neck ick help!

I had cystic acne for so long I had roaccutane 3x and it had gone but it's back now with vengeance!

My saving grace is that it's on my neck in my hair line but it hurts so much. Can I do anything about it? How do I pop them?

Gp said to try a cream but it doesn't work because of my hair.

You cant pop cystic acne. Bad idea.
What you need is an ice pack used several times a day for 5-10mins at a time, to help reduce the inflammation. You need a wash/face wash with something containing salicylic acid to use around the hairline and some adaplane gel from the GP. Looks sore OP. I've had similar on my face several times, so know what it's like. The pain is horrendous.

The pain really is just shit! Thank you x I'm going to ask the gp again tomorrow

Try zinc supplements, they used to help me. Sorry it's so miserable for you X

Wineat5isfine · 08/04/2021 01:51

Poor you!! That looks so painful. Any reason you can’t start taking the previous medication?

EatTheRich · 08/04/2021 01:57

The cream I tried made my hair really greasy at the back and actually caused more issues. I could go back on roaccutane but it's horrible, you have to have monthly pregnancy tests because the risk of birth defects are so high and you have to sign a form that says you know you'll be directed to have a termination if you get pregnant, plus the side effects are things like dry lips and skin, needing hourly applications of eye drops and lip balm, I got dermatitis from washing my hands so much at work they bled, it's a brutal drug I'm not sure I could put myself through it again

It’s just a photo on the internet and I’m not a doctor, but that doesn’t look like regular acne to me. I’m wondering if it’s a fungal infection.

EatTheRich · 08/04/2021 02:07

DH didn't take a very good photo but each and every spot has a head of pus on it. Some have more than 1 head, and they're all massive under the skin. Ranging from the size of 5p piece to £2 coin. They're all massive under the skin

Update on neck ick, dr thinks it's either impetigo, cystic acne flair or shingles as he won't examine me because impetigo is so infectious so I have ;

Doxycycline
Clarithromicin
Cefalexine
and acyclovir..

Fuck my life

It's oozing pus, my hair is stuck with it Envy my hat sits on the worst bit and it burns and throbs. As my theatre cap covers it occy health don't care about it.

Fuck me it hurts so much

It's also really hard to take a photo for the back of your head!!

Turns out it's a staph infection and should not be picked 😂

It looks sore whatever it is! I hope it clears up soon💐

KeyboardWorriers · 10/04/2021 19:48

Oh how miserable!

Is the medication starting to work?

EatTheRich · 10/04/2021 22:58

@KeyboardWorriers not so far but only taken 3 of the new tablets so hopefully in a couple of days it'll be a lot better. I made her swab my head as the Dr didn't want to see me so I called the ooh and she initially said that she thought it was acne and then looked at my head and was like Envy🤢 no that's not acne! Then she asked if she could collect some pus and helpfully one popped when she touched me so she swabbed that bit. I hope it's not mrsa.

Thank God for sporners corner!
