Large Boil

Help I have a large boil, I am on my third night of mag sulphate paste and plaster, but it is so deep and it hurts but it's not being drawn out, what am I doing wrong.

Oh it started as a black head a couple of years ago you can see the hole that that inhabited and which I of course squeezed the buggery out of and then a year ago, it felt like a small hard pea but now it's a chonky 50p sized hard plaque you can feel and my skin is changing colour. Close up picture from last night, it's a little more purple today.

@SaltyTootsieToes

Has it gone away now with antibiotics?
No, the redness and angryness has subsided but it is still hideous huge and full up, not as painful as it was but still uncomfortable, I finish my course of antibiotics tomorrow so interested to see what happens in the next few days. I couldn't Bazza* in focus this morning so have some blurry boil shots.
  • I felt it needed a name as it has become so big, so he is Barry/Bazza the Boil.

I’ve had one like that before - got infected and antibiotics worked but it burst a few days later as well. Glorious. And the relief! Good luck OP

GreyHare · 29/12/2020 21:34

I have burst, but it hurts to squeeze it, so Im gently oozing with a large melotin patch on it, as much as I love goo and pus, I don't enjoy it when it's me, my husband was no help and went green and ran away 🤣

@GreyHare how are you doing?

endofthelinefinally · 30/12/2020 20:40

You need the hot glass bottle trick. Glass bottle with wide base, narrow neck. Pour a little very hot but not quite boiling water into bottle to heat the glass. Empty it. Place the open end of bottle over the head of the boil.
Position yourself and the bottle so boil will drain downwards. Hold bottle in place for 5 to 10 minutes. Make sure seal is airtight.
As the bottle cools a vaccuum forms inside. The boil will drain.

So tempted to look for some videos of the truck @endofthelinefinally but not sure I'm brave enough.

Woodlandbelle · 30/12/2020 20:45

You poor thing that looks horrendously sore and painful Sad

endofthelinefinally · 30/12/2020 20:52

There are lots of videos. I can't do links on phone though.

GreyHare · 31/12/2020 09:57

Hello still oozing, I'm having to cover it as it leaks a lot, but not sure if covering it over all the time is a good thing, but I'm going to go have a nice steamy shower and give it another squeeze, but it does look better.

Be careful squeezing as you can drive the bacteria deeper into the tissues.
The bottle trick is better.

Woodlandbelle · 31/12/2020 10:25

Have you thought about having a hot bath with plenty of salt to cleanse the area? Years ago I had a similar boil caused but driclor deodorant and still remember the pain of it.

GreyHare · 31/12/2020 12:19

Well, it has definitely gone down, had a good squeeze and halfway through had a sudden thought of this thread and so kept the rest of the goop, I think it has two heads and only one has burst so I may try the bottle tip in a few days but Bazza is currently feeling rather sore so I'm going to leave him be (if I can) for a couple of days.

That is a splendid haul!

Minky37 · 02/01/2021 19:49

Blimey that’s some goop!

Ukholidaysaregreat · 02/01/2021 20:02

Wow! Amazing! Good work on the squeezing and the photographs! Blush hope you are feeling better today.

pooopypants · 12/01/2021 19:37

"kept the rest of the goop"

It's people like you who make this world a better place to be ❤️

GreyHare · 14/02/2021 22:40

Well Bazza is the gift that keeps on giving, no pictures of pus but although much improved he will occasionally still weep a little and he got really sore and stabby painful yesterday and decided that with a little squeeze that he wanted to erupt again and got some delightful creamy goo out of him.

It sounds like you might need some more antibiotics to get rid of the last of poor Boris.

FlatteredRhubardFool · 17/02/2021 23:54

This has cheered me right up, thanks OP Grin I hope Bazza gets sorted. Don't forget to get photo evidence of any further goop please!
