Sorry sporners, not really Klaxon-worthy but bloody itchy and the whole ankle area is swollen. Any ideas what has bitten me! And best treatment? It kept me awake last night.

What has bitten me?

I do t know sorry but one of the bloody buggers bit me twice on one ankle on Sunday - completely immobilised by swelling and the itch still is awful despite Anthisan and Germolene - I hope yours eases soon ☘️⚡️

Have you been gardening? Like you i was bitten twice on exposed skin on my tummy nearly four weeks ago. They're only improving now but the itch is still crazy at night sometimes. I found a thread on here which said if the bite had what looked like a black pin prick in the middle it was likely due to a flower bug.
In the beginning absolutely nothing helped now I find sudocrem soothes a little. I also needed pain killers. I hope that's not what you have. All the best.

Oh yes @eveoha lots of gardening. We grow quite a lot of our own fruit & veg. A month!?Yikes! And commiserations. On your tummy? That sounds miserable.

I can't see a black pin prick in the centre. I was actually tempted to stab it with a pin to alleviate the itching last night. As it's Friday I'm trying wine to numb the pain and ease the itching tonight 🍷

Looks like flower bugs, they have been eating my ankles recently. They get worse when your skin is warm. I found sudocream spread thickly over the nite reduced the itchy pain a bit.

Also, if you can, DO NOT pick at the scabs. I got one off in the shower in the second week but had to really tug at it, the injury goes really quite deep. It was worse afterwards, MUCH WORSE and only set it back. As time goes on the itch is only intermittent but when it hits really hits.
I had hives around the bites for the first two weeks also. I had good lavender oil which helped a wee bit, when it ran out I was only able to buy a 2.99 bottle which was useless.
I feel your pain, I really, really do.
Oh, I resorted to a dab of fucidin every now and again to keep what looked like infection down.
Good luck

Looks like a horsefly bite ouch

Can I presume this is a flower bug bite, very itchy!

What has bitten me?

Hot teaspoon pressed onto the bite will help. The heat helps break down the protein. Hot as you can bear without burning yourself.

Ooh ow @coronabegone !

I think mine was a flower bug bite. It's still very much there but less maddeningly itchy. Cotton wool soaked in calamine is massively soothing although the effects are fairly short lived. I've also put sudocrem and hydrocortisone cream on it. Gradually I'm seeing the shape of my ankle bone emerging from the swelling.

Hope yours heals soon.
