I have had a lump on my chest for two weeks. It's about the size of a golf ball. It's rock hard. I have managed to get some pus out but not much it was awful smelling. I have had a full week of Flucloxacillin and now the GP has prescribed Co-Amoxiclav over the phone as they aren't seeing patients in person.

Any advice on how to deal with it please. It's so sore all the time and very hot to touch.

I have had a dig with a pin but nothing coming out.

When did you start the co-amoxyclav?

Yesterday morning I have had 5 tablets so far. I am just so fed up of it.

I’d give it another couple of days to see if the antibiotics help. Try hot compresses to draw it out too. Any increase in pain/ redness/ swelling though speak to a doctor.

Thank you. I would rather the GP had a look at it yesterday but they were only doing phone calls.

Try magnesium sulphate paste, it will help draw any more pus out of it.

Poultice of bread and warm milk should draw it out - sounds medieval but does work.

Thank you. It's an abscess apparently got to have it dealt with at the hospital.
