KLAXON! Abscess in my armpit (Warning: May contain unshaven armpit!)

I have an abscess in my armpit. It hurts like hell! I've got antibiotics for it, but as yet they're not doing anything for it. Think I might have to go up to the big hospital tomorrow to get it lanced. I'm not sure whether the lower swelling is another abscess or not. Hurts though!

You can't do a decent job in your own armpit. Have you done hot saltwater soaks and mag sulph? It might sort itself out.

I stabbed it in the shower because it looked like it might go by itself and I didn't want it exploding on me in a meeting this morning.

I wish I'd recorded it because it was glorious! But you were all right, I couldn't get anywhere near all of it out, didn't have enough hands! Relieved the pressure though.

Spoke to 111 and they said come up to a&e and get it looked at, so I've settled myself in for a long wait! I will do my best to record anything they do to it! I've attached a picture of some of what came out this morning very solid - I'd say that was only about 1-2% of that there was! Shock

You should never do these things yourself- how on earth do you expect to hold the camera? Never mind, at least it feels better!

Ooh, I had one of those, it was reeeallly satisfying. The antibiotics seemed to help it come to a head, and for a few days it seemed like every time I put a little pressure on it another blob flew out. Nothing else has been as good since. Grin

Saw the Dr at A&E, they said because the top bit is draining then it will sort itself out. The nurse and doctor couldn't decide whether the lower swelling was another abscess or a really really swollen gland. I'm under strict instructions not to dig at it though Sad They've said that if the lower one starts getting hot and red or hasn't gone down when the other has healed then get my GP to refer me over to dermatology so the surgeons can have a look at it.

I've got a bit of video of tonight squeeze - there was more in the top one. Will try and figure out how to upload it. But for now here's what it looked like after removing the dressing, and look how green the stuff coming out is!! Envy

Now it's at least partly drained it feels sooooo much better! I wish I'd recorded the first squeeze, it came out in long strings of chunks and fired around the shower a bit. I never thought I'd have so much fun / relief from stabbing my armpit with a Stanley knife blade!!! It's so frustrating that I can't reach it well enough to squeeze it properly. On the up-side I guess that means I get to do a little bit each day?

Sorry autumn however I definitely warned you... Wink

queenofpain actually I haven't yet. Good point though. Will give it a good scrub later.

pickle I didn't shave, it's just the lighting doesn't show the hair so much Grin

Sore again this morning, the lower swelling is more painful. I think it probably is another abscess as opposed to just a swollen gland. I can feel the gland as well as another ping pong ball in there 😩 I will keep you all updated

Quick update - I still haven't taken last nights dressing off. I can definitely feel some more pressure brewing in there though. Going to take it off in about an hour or two once I e finished this paperwork and assess the situation. I'm quite excited! Grin
