Hi all,

We're just moving this over to sporner corner for the OP. Flowers

Meyoumeanmeh · 26/06/2019 20:35

As someone who has spent time doing ear syringing I can confirm it isn’t always easy to see things in ears, especially if thing is covered with wax so everything is the same colour.

That part of my job was equally disgusting and satisfying Grin

The biggest find from underneath a load of wax was an actual earplug! I can fully believe a cotton tip not being seen when someone has had a quick look to check for signs of infection.

ScreamingValenta · 26/06/2019 20:36

Hoping for a pic now this has been moved to Sporner Corner.

Cotton buds are not recommended by ENT people. Even if you don't lose the entire cotton bit, fibres come off and go into the ear canal. They are dangerous.

My husband used a cotton bud to rake his ears some years ago, first time, and it broke! We couldn't get the bit out of his ear so off he went to A&E (I had to force him to go). On his return he told me an ENT doctor came down to see him and had a long tube thing which went into his ear and out came the bud. The doctor told him he sees loads of people who have done the same and didn't know why people used such things for cleaning their ears.

Anyone use those metal ridged ear cleaners you can get from Amazon and wish? I bet they'd be fun.

LL83 · 26/06/2019 21:45

Bleugh!!

Thanks OP!

tenbob · 26/06/2019 21:49

I’m using the thread to add to the evidence pack for why DH must go and have his ears microsuctioned —and let me watch— instead of using cotton buds

MrsPinkCup · 26/06/2019 21:50

My ds had to have a cotton bud removed from his ear but my poor DH kept complaining of a weird tickle scratching feeling in his ear it went on for about two weeks. The doctor couldn't see anything and about two weeks later the weird tickle stopped.
Never thought anything else about it until about a month later he blew his nose and a dead spider fell out of his ear 🤮.

Ah, microsuctioning… anyone else remember YvaineStormhold's almost orgasmic, soft porn novel material microsuctioning experience from a year or so ago on here? It was GLORIOUS, I wish I could find the original thread!

Jayaywhynot · 26/06/2019 22:51

Yeah agree with pp, the only thing you should put in your ear is your elbow, try it!

missmouse101 · 26/06/2019 22:52

God that video is fabulous! So satisfying!

I did the exact same thing about 10 mins ago. Had earache all week, agonising earlier. Went to docs who said my ear canal was so swollen she could see my ear drum. When I got home the pressure eased and started leaking clear fluid! Been wiping away with a cotton pad and the dark brown wax followed it. A bit more teasing and out came a solid lump, covered in wax but not wax!

I consider my lesson learnt!
