This beauty has appeared on the top of my leg/arse and it hurts like a bitch. Multiple pus heads plus an extra one for good measure underneath.

How do I get this to burst and relieve the pressure??

Magnesium sulphate paste
Or a hot flannel held on it

TellCersei · 03/06/2019 22:27

Ooh love a good popping

DonPablo · 03/06/2019 22:30

Get it as hot as possible. Hot flannels, a hot water bottle wrapped in a muslin, even cotton pads run under the hottest tap possible. It may just give without any prodding or poking.

donajimena · 03/06/2019 22:33

I had something like that in the same place. I had a hot hot hot bath and as I pulled the skin to see if I could get a better look a hot arc of pus sprayed across the room. Around 4ft. It happened twice then it went. I've never had anything like it since. It was glorious I tell you!

Pandamodium · 03/06/2019 23:41

I had one on my arse (DH wouldn't take a photo for sporners corner the git) I ended up quite ill 2 lots of antibiotics, threatened with hospital lancing and packing, codeine. In the end a nurse took sympathy gave me some magnesium sulphate and it worked like a charm.

DH who was then quite a newish DP had to dress it daily for two weeks. He still married me luckily and I still have quite a large indent on my arse.

Hopefully it goes as quickly and painlessly as possible but do watch for signs of fever etc I had no idea how nasty how quick things would develop.

Holibobsing · 03/06/2019 23:58

Jeepers! Warm compress as others have said , should burst like a b.

I'd call it a cyst that's derived from a tiny hair getting into an oil gland. I had one at top of inner leg, gave it a slightest of squeezes and it shot 2 metres at an angle onto bedroom curtain . Put anticeptic cream on after (it may refil), cover with gauze and tape.

SarahBeeney · 04/06/2019 00:11

Wow,that's a beauty!

We'll need progress pics....

RhubarbAndMustard · 04/06/2019 06:32

Thanks everyone. Used a hot flannel last night and a hot shower this morning. No change so will get some Magnesium Sulphate if I can today.

No idea how I'm going to actually sit on it at work.

You also need to get a good camera man and your own Dr Pimple Popper (a DP will be a good substitute).

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 04/06/2019 17:32

Oooo looks sore. Like a cold sore ouch.

xSharonNeedlesx · 04/06/2019 19:36

Is there an update photo? Any rumblings? I couldn’t resist giving that a squeeze. whilst filming

GlamGiraffe · 04/06/2019 19:43

It's a carbuncle.how big is it's full diameter?
If it's not coming up from repeated compresses. I'd leave a hot water bottle on for 20 mins at a time every hour and a half, and no seepage from slight pressure on the sides I'd go to the GP. It possibly needs landing and or antibiotics. Do you have a fever or general malaise with it and howling have you had it? Is it growing?

RhubarbAndMustard · 04/06/2019 20:13

I got the magnesium sulphate today but only had chance to apply after work. This pic is before I applied it so not much change I don't think. I've given it a prod but nothing is coming out.

Still hurts a fair bit. I feel fine but the top of my leg/groin is now sore to the touch, but could just be where I'm sitting funny all day though.

Am hoping the paste draws it all out for a brilliant pus spraying display tomorrow.

Definitely very hot compresses as hot as you can stand. DD had one on her bits from shaving, said it was massive and she was in agony, unfortunately we were on holiday at the time in a less than modern country and the local clinic looked a worse option than treating it herself.

It took two days of hot compresses day and night and then it just burst, she said the relief was immense.

picklemepopcorn · 04/06/2019 21:00

Presumably you've scraped gently at the pus caps to get them to release? Then it will drain slowly on its own (or quickly with some pressure...). Keep up the hot compresses.

RhubarbAndMustard · 04/06/2019 21:48

So in the interests of taking on all advice (which I'm extremely grateful for), I've now prodded away at the top to try to remove it, but yeowch..and nothing much happened. I've applied some very hot flannels; put the paste back on and covered for the night.

That should show the carbuncle whose boss! I hope.

Bless you. Hope this morning provides some relief!

picklemepopcorn · 05/06/2019 08:12

By the way, don't google carbuncle images.

Tentomidnight · 05/06/2019 17:44

Hope you’re ok OP
(I just googled carbuncles 🤮)

EllenRipley · 05/06/2019 18:10

I just googled carbuncles.
😮

Hope it pops, OP. If there's any indication that there's a spreading infection, get straight to GP!

RhubarbAndMustard · 05/06/2019 19:18

No change this morning despite much prodding and squeezing. So after a quick chat with the GP am now on antibiotics.

Sorry for the lack of a sporner worthy display.

Carbuncle googling was not a good idea!Confused

I’m assuming the Salisbury Wing didn’t appear?

mimibunz · 05/06/2019 19:23

Magnesium sulphate paste is your friend.

treeless · 05/06/2019 20:23

Hope the antibiotics work. How do you apply magnesium sulphate? I've got some Epsom salts, but how much should I use to make a paste - my lump isn't nearly as impressive as OPs

Holibobsing · 05/06/2019 23:43

Salon with a plaster on worked for me. Felt the pain gone before I realised it had burst from being drawn out + friction.

Live to hear a tale or two of blackhead/cyst/boil removal. Please update o.p with your tale; exactly how it burst, how much, and any added gasps from spectators greatly appreciated Grin
