So I've got this. Day 9 and growing. I'm scared of doctors so no lancing. Used Mag Sulph all week. Any tips?

I've had boils before but this isn't getting a head so I can't do anything.

Does it feel as though it contains any pus?

daffodilbrain · 06/08/2018 23:19

I think you need to be sensible and go to drs

anonneymouse · 07/08/2018 17:40

Definitely ready to go Confused

I dont think thats one for dealing with at home!

Ollivander84 · 07/08/2018 17:51

Yeah that's an a&e job or OOH GP. I have HS and get similar, my one like that was a GA for incision and drainage plus packing for weeks after

ScreamingValenta · 07/08/2018 17:54

Oh dear, yes, you need a professional for that one now Sad.

anonneymouse · 07/08/2018 18:27

But I'm a scaredy cat Sad

Funnybunnydog · 07/08/2018 18:42

Having it lanced under a local or general anaesthetic then properly cleaned and antibiotics if needed is far less scary than having it burst of its own accord and spread infection all over.

EmeraldVillage · 07/08/2018 18:45

I love sporn as much as the next spooner but really this is a doctor job

cheesefield · 07/08/2018 18:50

Cor blimey. Urgent GP appt tomorrow I think!

ShatnersBassoon · 07/08/2018 18:52

Shitting hell, that's definitely one needing a trained eye casting over it. I'm agog.

notapizzaeater · 07/08/2018 18:55

Ouch, just ouch ....

FletcherRye · 07/08/2018 19:03

Mmmmmmmn that’ll ooze some goodies I bet!

It’ll feel amazing once it’s drained, OP! Definitely worth braving the GP.

Achafi · 07/08/2018 19:09

Could you film it when being drained? It's beautiful.

ScreamingValenta · 07/08/2018 19:14

@Achafi You may like this Dr Pimple Popper cyst drainage. I've linked to a Daily Mail feature which includes the footage, rather than the YouTube vid to avoid pics appearing on thread as it's quite graphic

Fang2468 · 07/08/2018 19:38

It’s too big to deal with at home! Go to A & E ( and get them to film it)

LuluJakey1 · 07/08/2018 19:54

I said this on your other thread; you need medical attention. This is very large and multi-headed. You will need anti-biotics and it will probably need surgical draining and packing. The relief is instant. You won't feel a thing and it is much less likely to come back if it is dealt with properly. If you leave it to burst, chances are it will come back.

Ollivander84 · 07/08/2018 19:57

I'm a complete wuss with hospitals. Basically they knocked me out with a pre med which made me laugh so much I forgot I was having a GA. I woke up and it was done, allowed home after I had some toast

confusedmomm · 07/08/2018 20:11

A&E or urgent GP for this. Stop being a wuss about it. I'm guessing if you are in here you have kids. I'm sure will not be anywhere near as painful as labour. Just go and sort it.

ShakespearesSisters · 07/08/2018 22:20

Please get it drained. Not like this man who had a go at home, note his very clean fingers!

Hope you are all back to normal soon x
anonneymouse · 08/08/2018 13:28

It's burst. No more pain and no GP. I know, maybe I'm stupid but a fear is a fear.

OP posts:
ScreamingValenta · 09/08/2018 20:22

Ah, I'm glad it sorted itself out. Hope the area clears up quickly now it's burst.

Bibesia · 10/08/2018 00:59

If you get anything like this again, please go to a doctor. Antibiotics stand a very good chance of sorting this sort of infection out before it gets to that stage.

AfterSchoolWorry · 10/08/2018 02:22

You really should get it checked, it could be MRSA.
