Horsefly bite? I want to scratch my leg off!

Was definitely bitten by something the other night in a friend’s garden - I felt the bite. I took a little wine-related tumble, and assumed the mark on my leg was a graze. But now it doesn’t look or feel like a graze and is fucking itchy!!
Does it look like a horsefly bite?

Hmmmm
Whatever it is, it’s bloody itchy and getting bigger! It’s pretty solid to touch too

When? If it's getting bigger several days later, you want to go get it seen. Horsefly bites often get infected.

I feel your itch - I got one bite me in an unmentionable place, which looked exactly like that. I got antihistamine cream on it, which helped tremendously, but keep an eye on it as they so easily go septic.

Nightmanagerfan · 28/07/2018 17:30

Don’t want to alarm you but a colleague got bitten by a horsefly - two lots of antibiotics didn’t work and she had to have IV antibiotics at a&e. Check if it’s tracking across your skin and definitely at least ask a pharmacist for advice. She was told that anyone with a horsefly bite needs immediate medical attention.

Agree with previous poster - you need to watch in case it becomes infected.
Also, try antihistamine for the itch?

MyBreadIsEggy · 28/07/2018 17:33

I’ll draw a circle round it to see how much bigger it’s getting and pop some anthisan on it.
If it’s still getting worse I’ll pop down to GP on Monday!
Nasty little fuckers Angry

(And don’t act all concerned....you know you all want it to get infected so I’ll post a gross, pus-filled photo for your delectation Grin)

I’d soak it in warm salt water let it dry put a pen mark round the outside off the pink bit so you know if it gets worse. Apply some antihistamine cream or take an antihistamine and apply antiseptic. If not getting better by Monday go to nipurse at gps.

If antihistamine cream doesn’t’t help, try Eurax, amazing stuff

AuditAngel · 02/08/2018 18:59

This was my mosquitos bite a couple of weeks ago

MyBreadIsEggy · 02/08/2018 20:02

Sorry I didn’t eat back to you!
Got antibiotics as practice nurse said it looked infected.
Absolutely fine now Smile
