What's this weird hard thing on my gum **pic**

I had my wisdom tooth out a few weeks back.

I've felt a very hard little thing on the outside of the gum and just now managed to get it off with my tongue. Anyone know what it could be?

Sorry I didn't know where to post this, and can't find anything on google!

It's a bit of bone. Quite normal.

It's rock hard, at first I though a bit of tooth had been left in but it's been getting bigger Envy hence me managing to get it off.

Probably a little piece of the bone encasing the tooth which was broken during the extraction. Completely normal and nothing to be concerned about.

Are they called stones?

I very occasionally get these, and so does my mum. I only know them as stones, as that’s what my mum calls them from her home country. I’m sure they’re called something else in English.

Oh really scooby? Even though it was on the outside of my gum? It wasn't there for the first few days either.

I had the same when I had a molar out. I had about 4/5 bits of bone come out in the end after a few months. They were so itchy when they started to poke through the gum!

The dentist said that it's just bone and is normal. It's pretty weird thoughGrin

Try googling tooth spicule

OrangeJam · 13/05/2018 17:55

Ah! @Hilltoptea that's exactly it, thank you so much!
