Look what came out of my 5yo's ear

My DS was very excited about this. He had been complaining of feeling something hard in his ear. I can even see his grommet which he had fitted 3 years ago!

My DS's first grommet came out in a river of goo after his eardrum burst. The other one fell out but got compacted in wax just like that one. It came out in a chunk of wax.

It's probably time to start using some olive oil in his ears to de-wax now both grommets are gone and the next round of burst ear drums has healed!

Dare I ask..... what's a grommet?

I should have put something next to it for perspective, sorry! I'm afraid it was thrown out yesterday. I'm not sure if he can hear any better. He still seems to shout a lot when he talks. A grommet is something they put into his ear drum ( I think?) as he had glue ear, slight hearing loss and so many ear infections. They were put in 3 years ago so I'm surprised it was still there! They definitely helped stopped the frequency of the ear infections.

To give it some idea, before it broke apart it was about the size of a pea!

Juells surely the fact that you're in sporner corner would give you some idea of what the threads are about?!
