Had ear wax microsuctioned. Took a photo.

Had microsuction of ear wax today.

I had been using olive oil, but there was a hard lump of wax blocking the ear canal, which was stopping the oil from being able to get further in to soften the rest of the wax.

I took a photo of what came out, which I can post if anyone is interested.

The other bonus of microsuction is that you can (if you choose) view the inside of your ear canal. The instrument has a camera and the image can be viewed on a computer screen.

Thanks Second. Will get appointment booked asap.

suction is much better than irrigation.
you are less likely to get built up of gunk again.
dh needed irrigation every year. but since trying suction the ears need clearing every 5 years or so.

Wow ok thanks for the feedback! I get mine syringed at least every 6 months so will def try suctioning next time!!

Do you have to have been using olive oil for a certain number of days before they will see you?

brownelephant · 24/02/2018 10:34

no, suctioning works better without softening the gunk first.
and putting anything liquid is a bad idea if you have issues with the drum or small scratches inside the ear canal.
