Possible infected thumb side bit

This is more painful than early stages of labour.

My thumb nail broke, there was a bit sticking out which I bit off (I know) and now my thumb hurts even if I don't touch it, it hurts all the time, really hurts.

Is it infected, if so what can be done? Sterilised needle time or shall I wait?

That's not ready to blow yet. Wait until you get a whitish/yellowish tinge to the side of your nail, then pull the skin down & away from the nail.

And film it.

Markedly worse since photo taken as struggled to unbutton jeans.

Will do my best to film it, may have to enlist DH to hold the camera which may require some bribery as he's not much of a sporner (grounds for LTB?).

Hurry up glorious pus, make this agony worth it damn you.
