Good evening dear sporners,

I have a toenail growing back and it seems to be ingrowing again, I've had this problem all my life. It is red, hot, throbbing and quite angry. I can't lean on it or wear socks. I'm a tough nut so I squeezed my toe as it provides temporary relief. Any ideas for reducing swelling, pain relief? I've had 30mg cocodamol (prescription)

Go to the podiatrists and get the sides taken off, they put a chemical in which means it never grows back. You can hardly see I've had mine done

Oh thanks Marmite I've heard this costs alot of money? I don't have the cash spare, not even in emergency savings.

Tea tree oil (just the tinest wipe of a tiny drop) to help with the infection.

Soak regularly in warm salt water for 20 mins at a time and put on antiseptic cream in between. When infection gone keep area soft with moisturiser. It would be a good idea to see a chiropodist but appreciate your money constraints. You may only need 1 visit to trim side of nail to stop it recurring.

I got it done free on the NHS just had to wait a while!

Referral via GP! We have a big doctors so was done in house but might involve a short trip to hospital clinic in other areas.

Marmite as it's a 20+ year problem I will speak to me gp about it and throw myself on their mercy. She may say yes anyway as I'm diabetic and they keep a close eye on arms legs etc ty!
