It's horrendous!

I didn't know it had a name until I came across it on Mumsnet. When I was about 14 I had a dream that my skin was full of holes with soil in them. Makes me want to vomit just thinking about it! No idea where the dream came from but it's stayed with me. Think that's the root of my phobia!

At least it explains my irrational fear of crumpets - hate the little burgers all those tubey holes

I guess I have trypophilia - I really enjoy those images. I think it is sporning-like, definitely.

I'm a sporner who get queasy looking at certain holey things (lotus seed pod thingies, for example) but not everything (love crumpets). I had a similar dream to Coconut when I was young, but it was only five years or so ago I learnt via MN that it was a "thing" not me being odd

I also had the holes in skin dream, multiple times. I had pebbles in holes down my shin. Still makes me shudder to think about it now but must be at least 20 years ago
