Had gigantor for a week and a day now, could barely walk, today it's finally burst and has gone down to about half its size but won't stop leaking, what can I do to get rid of the gunk faster? I've been wearing two dressings on top of each other with iodine inside and it's still seeping through all the dressings on to my knickers about 15 mins after I change the dressing

I think it is past its best now

I should think it will start drying up and shrinking.

I thought they would of had more of an effect by now. Keep an eye out for fever, chills etc and if in doubt get seen again.

How's things today OP?

Not much to report, did a bread poultice for about an hour and half last night then got in the bath and squeezed as much as I could but it's so sore it's hard to squeeze it for long, it's still hard underneath but really tender and raw on top. Been using fucidin cream and that seems to draw out quite a lot of thick gunk, dressing is full of it every time I change it

I wouldn't squeeze anymore, let the head form. It doesn't really look as though it is ready, to me. Also, sometimes you get swelling caused by the squeezing and soreness- that will get worse the more you squeeze. It needs time to settle.

Sorry to break your hearts but I don't think it's going to explode it's still the same, hard underneath, two holes, dressing full every time I change it, really really sore to touch, there's pus at the entrance of each hole but I can't squeeze cos it's so tender, I have pressed as hard as I can at the side of the holes but nothing happens. My antibiotics have run out too so I really hope it closes up soon

You need to go back to the GP and have it assessed as to whether it needs draining or you need more/different antibiotics

If your antibiotics have run out definitely go back to the gp. That needs properly draining now

Another vote for going back to the doctor.

Go back to the doctor if it's infected you could get blood poisoning from all the prodding. Don't mess around anymore. Best of luck.

Come seriously go back to the GP. Not to nag but the AB's might not have worked, I stupidly tried to leave it and ended up really ill.

Your healths more important then a bit sporn. If you can't see your GP urgent care would be suitable.

It sounds as though it might be infected, don't squeeze or touch it again and make sure you regularly change the dressing.

If you start to feel really unwell, have a high temp etc make sure you get an emergency appointment or head off to a&e.
