My tonsils are disgusting (pic)

This is what I've just fished out of one tonsil. There's still stuff in there but I can't see it, just feel it.

I'm on the waiting list to get the manky things removed. I know it's not going to be a pleasant op but I can't wait to get rid of them!

Tonsil stones have a vile odour. Like a dead thing festering away. You can't keep picking them out as it gets quite sore. I used to get them but have been clear for years now. Have you tried drinking gallons, OP?

I feel sick.

I have a friend whose brother told her you can use them for hand cream.

< not envy.

How do you get the stuff out?! I can't even touch my tonsils without heaving!

I get tonsil stones when I eat a lot of wheat.
When I cut out bread they go away

Two cotton buds pressed gently on each side.

I sort of stick my finger in and press. They are gross.

I just use a cotton bud. It seems to resolve most of the gagging issues but it still gets quite sore.

I drink loads but I've had them since I was quite young and nothing I do seems to stop them. I did the whole 30 a couple of years ago (includes no wheat) and all that happened was that I got self-conscious about not having a constant supply of mints. Before MN I didn't know what they were and when I was a kid I thought they were bits of my brain falling out!

A plastic chopstick. I gently stroke the tonsil with it till they pop out. Make sure there are no sharp edges on it if you are going to use one though. I like mine as it gives a much better reach than a cotton bud. If they are stubborn I gargle with sparkling water first which seems to help.

I've just posted on chat about a tonsil stone remover.... the normal folk were disinterested and sent me over here to socialise with people more like me...!
