I'm a type 1 diabetic and have this behind my ear. My throat is very sore and all my glands are up. No temperature. Can it wait until tomorrow??

I would think so.
Is the sore related to the diabetes?

LapinR0se · 23/01/2017 20:40

Oh dear. That looks extremely painful. I guess the risk is sepsis and if your immune system is already flaring up then yes I would get it looked at asap

Sidge · 23/01/2017 20:42

What are your sugars doing?

Is it a wound from an injury or has it just come up?

I think you need a low threshold to see someone tonight, especially if that redness is spreading.

Skatingonthinice16 · 23/01/2017 20:42

I've never had anything like this before so I don't know. I know you can have problems with skin healing and diabetes.

I'm very run down as hardly been getting any sleep and not eating very well so that might not have helped. Diabetes has been well controlled though.

Sugars have been very good all day!

If your sugars are good and you have no fever I might just cover it and see your GP in the morning. But do have a low threshold for seeing someone overnight if anything changes Smile

Heratnumber7 · 23/01/2017 20:50

I meant I think it can wait. My comment was ambiguous.

TheCakes · 23/01/2017 20:53

You need to draw round the red with a Biro so you can monitor it and see if it spreads.

Skatingonthinice16 · 23/01/2017 21:33

I've had some painkiller and will see how it goes. I've got such a busy day tomorrow I'm hoping it will be much better and I won't even need to see a GP! They're so overstretched anyway aren't they?

OP posts:
MollyHuaCha · 23/01/2017 21:36

Yes, but as you have reduced immunity you should get this checked out tomorrow. It's obvs infected and you don't want it to spread. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Loftyjen · 23/01/2017 22:32

Looks like an ulcer, would suggest with your diabetes this needs looking at v soon & would take priority over other plans. Could be that A&E would be better as they'll have better access to appropriate dressings than OOH would have.
If you've not eaten much & your sugars have been ok, to me that could be a warning sign - if you've not eaten well, shouldn't they be on the low side??
Fingers crossed you get seen asap and are feeling better soon x

MollyHuaCha · 24/01/2017 13:30

How's it going today OP?

Skatingonthinice16 · 24/01/2017 13:35

I went to the dr and I have some antibacterial cream but I also now have awful tonsillitis so I've been given ten days antibiotics. Single handedly bankrupting the NHS Sad
I'm struggling as I feel so unwell and have dd to look after. And ds too soon after school. I'm starving but can't eat as my throat is so sore and I feel so tired. I don't know what to do with myself to be honest. I'm so worried dd will catch this tonsillitis from me, it's so painful. She wouldn't drink if she had this and would probably end up in hospital.

Glad you have some creme and antibiotics. No of course you are not bankrupting the NHS. Regarding looking after children, you need to prioritize yourself in order to be well enough to looks after DCs. Soup without bits in might be good for you at the moment? I was thinking smoothies too - put Greek yoghurt, banana and berries in a blender - but not sure if they'd be good for diabetes. Hope you feel a lot better soon.

Imnotaslimjim · 24/01/2017 13:52

You do sound very poorly. Do you think you can manage ice cream or yogurt? That would help ease a bad throat.

As to your DC, is your youngest able to entertain themselves or will sit still in front of the TV? You need to rest as much as you can

For the tonsillitis, I can highly recommend Difflam Rinse mouthwash as it has a local anaesthetic in it. I was prescribed that when I had acute bacterial tonsillitis last year.
