Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Would it be silly to attempt to do the DLA renewal form with no help?

This will be the third one, DD currently on high rate for a medical condition although she now has a s and l delay too and glue ear so we have added to the list of issues rather than having less. I know though that it may still be harder to get than previously.

I had a lady from contact a family come out and help with the forms the last two times but sadly they have lost funding so they no longer have that service in my area. I still have the old form although havent been able to bring myself to look at it yet.

I only had help for my first one and have done 2 more since then (one for each DS).

If you're confident enough, go for it.

Definitely use the old form to see where areas of need have changed for better or worse or not changed.

Awful things, I don't blame you for not wanting to look at it.

The Cerebra website does a good guide for conditions which encompass language delay, ASD and learning difficulties. I used it and was awarded HRC for my son. Maybe have a look at that?

Thank you. I will definately look at Cerebra's website. I keep putting off even thinking about it partly as Iam so worried we won't get it at all this time! I also need to get her consultant to fill a bit of it in so really should get a move on.

Good to know others have managed it themselves. liked that the lady who helped me actually wrote it, I seem to need a set date to do it and no excuses which of course worked when I had someone come round ata set time to help, maybe I should set myself a morning to do it all at once.

God no, do it over a couple of days here and there if you can or your hand cramps up Baby steps.

Good luck!

I did my first form myself, as a portage worker was saying 'you might get lower rate care' - got HRC.

Our renewal is due in December, so the forms should drop through soon.

Good luck with yours lou too,I have just been trying to dig out the old forms, just glanced at it and my heart sank! Wonderig how much to include about her s and l delay as at the moment it has been entirely based on her medical condition. Will have a look at cerebra now I think as am new to the SEN side of things (just about to do IEP with playgroup for her)
